Reports where?
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

There is no chance of any decent player with a good reputation signing for GCU. Why would they?

Ok here is my problem with Kewell he will get bums on seats (i agree 100%) but he will get injured in the A-league i have no doubt of that (sadly the leagues to physical). He will command a massive wage and play a handful of games a season if any at all like Jeffers did (kinda). However here is what i like about Kewell people will certainly pay to watch him weather they be the home or away team. Anyone who supports Liverpool or Gala and doesn't support the A-league will go watch him play which could potentially bring more fans. Unlike duds like Nicky Carle he is actually a marquee worth a big price tag. Thus the signing of Kewell would be a good for the A-league in regards to publicity and good for the game, but i dont think it's good for Kewell. P.S GCU is the one place Kewell could go and have the least amount of impact on the game. He should sign for Sydney FC or Perth i'd say Victory but i reckon they have got to the point where they comfortable and growth could be used in clubs that have more of a potential fan base. Don't see why he'd want to sign with Gold Coast. Playing in front of 2,000 every week certainly wouldn't entice many. The only thing going for Kewell with this move, would certainly be the money Clive Palmer is offering to him.

I recon he'll wait until the end of next season when the new West Sydney team is announced and hell sign with them.

Perhaps if they made season tickets free and walk up tickets free and they got a bunch of away fans they might crack 20k... but I sincerely doubt it. The Gold Coast has shown they are not passionate about football.

Harry isn't going to come back to Australia... even if it was for a sydney club, he'll finish his playing days and end up living in the UK and occasionally coming out here for the summer to keep some of his endorsements clocking over

I'd imagine that alot of those who show an interest in football in general, would go to matches to watch Kewell. Anyway, I find this rumour hard to believe.

Gold Coast is not interested in CLIVE PALMER. GCU is a dead club walking.
Bring in Kewell, you might get a few thousand coming to see him once, but long run only adds a few hundred more loyal fans at best.
Heck, you could bring Messi to GCU now and nothing would change UNLESS Clive Palmer makes some radical off-field changes (e.g. sacking himself). GCU is a failed brand and it's infecting FFA.
Oh, and of course Kewell and Messi and anyone decent would be stupid to destroy their post-playing career earnings by joining GCU.

'Let's all blame Clive Palmer'. Bunch of BS.
Only passionate supporters would give a stuff about the owner and how a club is run. The rest come simply for one sole purpose. Entertainment.
Gold Coast aren't on the brink like the Fury were/are, they have strong backing. Take Palmer away, that's when they'll collapse.

Take Palmer away, that's when they'll collapse. strong backing financially... but they're a basketcase club, i don't think you understand the dynamics of the Gold Coast... i don't think you can say things will get better for the club in 5-10 years time where you can argue that the North Queensland is only going to get better (maybe not quickly but they'll have more growth then GCU)...

Yeah maybe the first game, but it would dwindle away, if anything it would raise the clubs profile on the Gold Coast, non football people would actually acknowledge there is a club.

For the good of the continuing development of Australian Football, we need Kewell to play a few seasons in the A-League but he's still to good to come here anytime soon in my opinion, maybe in a few years when the Western Sydney team finally gets going

He was a big advocate for the Rovers being introduced and I assume that if West Sydney got a team for 2012-13, he'd join them.

If Clive Palmer actually pulled his finger out of his arse and sign him he would get a little more respect by the football community. These billionaire owners just want to have a club to say they own a club not the glory of being a great club.

In my fantasy world, Kewell would get the license along with Cahill for the Western Sydney team, and with their contacts create a top team from players that come from South West Sydney.

The football community think that GCU is a basketcase. Half the people I play football with want them to fail. But if Palmer opened up, apologized for his arrogance and plead for football fans (of which there are many, Gold Coasters know that) to turn up or else the club won't last much longer, I think we could pull a reasonable crowd.
