Got in b4 me ;) Blacktown Spartans v Balmain will be interesting. Really hope Balmain get up - but Blacktown did make it to the semi's last year. If they've kept most of their side they'll be hard to beat. I know Balmain has a few fresh faces Spirit FC V Northbridge will be interesting, Spirit made it to the final last year, Northbridge looks pretty strong. Battle of the Universities looks fun. Hakoah v dandaloo will be interesting. Does Dandaloo still have a bunch of ex-A-League players?

yes they do and one of the best coaches in the state if not the best and would beat most state league sides

In fact I predict a 3-1 win tho CFC. In there last 8 games including last years grand final they have scored something like 59 goals and 3 or 4 against. Thats going to take some beating.

This is true dale, but Belconnen copped 5 in the fed cup final last week and I would say they are probably the second best team in Canberra. Where would you rate Macarthur Rams as compared to Belco?

we defeated macathur in the tiger turf year before last albeit with us fielding a much stronger side than present.
We are currently struggling in terms of player stocks and are attempting to rebuild. It is very difficult with the player drain to canberra for the $$$$$$ we just cant offer

Belconnen in truth are either a shadow of their former selves or are just part of the crop totally outclassed by FC.
This particular FC side are obviously that far beyond every other club in canberra that it makes a mockery of the league. I wont degrade a club who has developed to have the financial power that they do where they can buy players in as they like.
What i will say is that if Capital football wish to have a competitive league something must be done. That is however difficult. How do you stop someone walking past a players bag and dropping a brown paper bag full of cash in it each week?
Capital football are totally aware of the situation but are unsure of how it can be combatted. One consideration they have is giving each player a points rating eg. Adam spaleta and Alex Castro would be 10's, the majority of our squad would be 3,4 and 5's so on and so forth down the leagues. Teams would then be capped as to how many points they can have. Seems feasible doesnt it? Problem arises when you try and tell Adam and Michael Spaleta (brothers) that they cant play in the same side because the club has too many points.......
Very difficult situation

If they were to join a NSW comp, they'd have to work their way up from NSW State League 2 - or join the conference league. And the traveling would be an issue i'd think.

Firstly to STFA. mate Capital Football couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery let alone try and make the comp even. They ( Heather Reid ) are more interested in the womens league than the mens and this is why the mens league has gone backwards in recent years. Fact, Canberra FC went to Heather and told her that they would fund a youth A-league team and her response was; " Ok, BUT I will only help IF the amount of money you put into the youth team you also put into the womens W-league team ".
Heiniken; Canberra did have a team in the NSWPL if you recall, they were called Belconnen Blue Devils. They had no problems travelling to Sydney every second week, the problem was the Sydney teams didnt like travelling to Canberra and losing even if it was once a season that they had to make there way down the Hume. The Blue Devils actually did quite well in fact they actually flourished and won the comp, if you recall. This why the NSW football federation kicked them out because they won.
Truth be told the ACT needs a pathway for the up and coming players to play and develop in, if that the NSWPL thats great, if its an Youth A-league team good to. But for the players that come out of ACTAS to go and play in the Canberra premier league is not a step forward at all. CAPITAL FOOTBALL PULL YOUR FINGER OUT YOUR ARSE.

The pay off here in this cup for the lower sides is most (well at least i can confirm Luddenham) side in the div 2 use their under 20's side in this comp because there really is no point in playing your first grade side and maybe making it to round 3 or 4 and then put promotion at risk for $500? wed much rather win the league than have a good cup run hence we used our 20's. I think Wanderers and the other clubs will pay the price for this.

Canberra or Hakoah will do just fine for me next round... in the next round, can NSWPL teams get drawn up against each other, or is the draw formated in some way?

I'd assume they're seeded, but it'd be better if they weren't just to spice it up a bit.
