It wouldn't suprise me if you are right, there is an article that mentions discontent within the SFC ranks, it was posted in the last day or so.

Nevertheless this belongs in the rumour mill until there is confirmation.

Here is the comment Judy Free, it was in a Fink article of all places.

Quote:
co-owner Paul Ramsay is not totally happy with the way things are run at the club and may be looking to bail out altogether.

A possible ownership void and the arrival of an expensive new marquee could spell significant headaches for all concerned.

Would you keep pumping money into a club that has Terry Mcflynn as captain??
Would you keep pumping money into a club that lets all it's young talent leave??
Would you keep pumping money into a club that almost has the entire state of NSW to draw it's talent from but signs Moriyasu??
Would you keep pumping money into a club that keeps losing fans each time it plays because they are bored to death??

Could go on for a while......

Would you keep pumping money into a club who has a captive market of 4M+ people and choose to play their games at the least accessible location and wonder why they can't draw a crowd?

I am dying to know how a stadium that is 10 minutes walk from Central station is inaccessible. I would also love to know this magical stadium that is close to everyone in a city that is geographically very large.

I don't live that close to the SFS but it's still only one train ride and a few minutes walk.

But the walk it so steep! Don't you know that stadia should all be built ON TOP of bus and train stations, and accessed by lifts?

Fkn Sydneysiders. It's 2hrs for me, but I still rocked up, and probs will again this season.

I has a theory.

The 'Majority' of Sydney FC fans come from 'Western Sydney'. Western Sydney has a lower socio-economic ratio to that of those living in Inner West, North Shore, and Eastern Suburbs. Because of the lower socio-economic lifestyle, the people cannot afford fresh fruit and vegetables to live a healthy lifestyle. Therefore they consume a lot more fast-food then regular people, because it's cheaper then a healthier lifestyle and easier to access. They are therefore more overweight then the rest of Sydney, and therefore less active and more un enthusiastic to catch public transport. Public transport takes longer; however is cheaper then driving. People are too lazy, and too impatiant to catch public transport, and because they're more unfit then your Easterner/Northerner, they're less likely to want to waste energy walking up forveux street.

In short: Western Sydney fans are too fat and lazy and therefore cannot give a fuck.

Sorry missed this, Um, its a bit more than a few minutes, but, unlike other stadiums it is not in a central location to public transport or parking (except moore park) but driving there would be a hassle. My major point is the Stadium is no where near the greater population of Sydney so they really only connect to eastern suburbs and football loyalist. If I lived in Sydney and had the choice of watching it on TV or going through the hassle of catching a train and walking, I'd stay home.

BTW: Paramatta stadium, steal the march on a western Sydney franchise.

We have the same problem in the Gold Coast Hinterland, nearly everyone is obese, seriously depressing going to the shopping centre, never seen so many MacDonalds in close proximity as here, 3 within 2Km's of each other in my suburb alone.

It must be a socioeconomic thing

Back when I worked in fast food I got told by one of the development managers that his ideal site for a new restaurant was one where you walked through the shopping centre and saw plenty of bare feet and flannelette.
