If its one of the Koreans i will be very disappointed. They didnt really show the required quality i felt. It probably is someone from Japan especially as Rado was there for some time.

I honestly don't see how it could be one of the Koreans. They were here a couple of months ago and no one has heard anything about them. If they would of impressed surely they would of been signed fairly quickly.

From a couple of days ago.

Quote:
Vidosic, who has two vacant visa spots available, said he would enter the transfer market to find another left-sided player to compliment 20-year-old right winger Halloran.

Doesn't Broich play wide left? Maybe he is moving more centrally, which could be immense for you lot.

That's what the article says.

Quote:
We are looking to change our (attacking) style a little bit - to be more direct, to penetrate more frequently with faster players, but still to maintain that composure once we are inside and around that penalty box.

That could mean a move back to central midfield for playmaker Thomas Broich, who was often deployed in wide positions under Postecoglou.

Looks like we'll see an amalgam of styles from the Roar this year. Don't know if I like that we're looking for another left sided player. Fitzgerald, Viconte and Danning can play down that wing.

From the pre-season games I saw last year Fitzy is much better centrally and neither Visconte or Danning have done anything to excite as of yet. (Visconte's shoulder barge in the first GF keeps in the squad for me!)

[-x Don't speak bad of Kofi.

But anyway. Some more speed on our wings should make us deadly on the counter attack.

Well, at least Kofi looks the part I guess. I really wanted him to step up, but he hasn't :(

Halloran on the right and quick, skillful player on the left feeding the likes of Berisha, Broich, Nichols and Henrique in the middle is salivating :)

I agree that our midfield is now looking drool-worthy, but where are we going to put them all? Or do you think Rado will go with 3 at the back?
Possible line up?

That doesn't seem viable. Seems to me we have an over-abundance of midfielders. Maybe they're planning on selling one or 2?

Doubt we will go for a back 3, (4-3-3) stick to what works (however the wide back need to be driving forward which makes me wonder about the future for stef, he is getting on, but Hingert has fitness issues IMO , well at lest he did last season..

Well not counter attack. But to capitalize on a fast break opportunity.

If we would of signed Thwaite I would of been delighted.

+1, plenty of time though!

C what your saying, maybe it would be good to see Kofi in behind Bes, filling the space between defencive lines then streaming forward, especially cos Bes tends to hold up the ball well and can pisk a pass.

Either that of Kofi on the wing coming from deeper position than he has been, allowing him to get past the line and go on..

starting to get super pumped for this season.. moist.

Sadly I don't think we will see much of Kofi. He has the pace but he doesn't really have the skills just yet. I remember our last ACL game and thinking if he had a good first touch and had more confidence in taking someone on he would be deadly. But now we have Halloran, who looks very good.

I agree that the wing backs play a vital role in our game, or did in Ange's game, but I just don't see how you fit all our key players on the pitch at once. With Halloran being touted as a starting player, that would leave no space for Henrique down his normal flank. And we need his flair, or else all balances on Broich.

I have no doubt he'll be brilliant for us. From what I saw last year, the kid is fearless and has a right to be. But I don't know if he's a replacement for Henrique, who has been a fantastic player for us to date.

Olympic match to kick off pre-season
Three months after clinching their second straight Hyundai A-League Championship, Brisbane Roar will begin the preparation of their quest for three with a pre-season fixture against Brisbane Olympic at Goodwin Park tonight.

Head Coach Rado Vidosic will put his players through their paces against the ninth-placed Brisbane Premier League club just a fortnight after returning from a seven-week break as part of a carefully crafted programme drafted by his coaching staff.

“We’re two weeks into pre-season and the plan is that everyone will play 45 minutes,” the Brisbane boss said.

“They’re probably conditioned for a little bit more but we don’t want to risk any injuries.”

Vidosic’s focus will rest not on a result but instead on the progress of his team, especially given the early nature of their first match.

“We’ve been working on a few things from a tactical point of view and a conditioning point of view so we’re looking to see how the players apply these principles,” he said.

“I hope we can present ourselves in the best possible way and show the Brisbane public we’re serious contenders for three in a row.”

Last year, Brisbane Olympic were the Roar’s fifth pre-season fixture and the Hyundai A-League Champions prevailed 5-1 at Goodwin Park with goals to Massimo Murdocca, Thomas Broich, Mitch Nichols and the now-departed Matt McKay and Kosta Barbarouses.

Match details
Brisbane Roar vs Brisbane Olympic
Goodwin Park, Cansdale Street, Yeronga
7.15pm kick-off, gates open at 4.45pm
Player signing session 5-6pm
Entry is a gold coin donation to the Royal Children’s Hospital
For the kids – Roary and Pauls Rapid Fire inflatable fields from 4.45pm
