I didn't introduce myself did I?

Well, No i did not. So here is my chance to do so.

Im from Melbourne, Victoria. I am 14, and still playing, i play in the overnamed Victorian Champions League, best of the best from regions.

I support all teams that a Aussie have in it. Fulham, Everton, Blackburn. But i mainly support Manchester City (yes, money buys fans as well.) and Barca in La Liga. Favourite player is Mark Schwarzer.

Richie, if you played at a decent level back home, maybe NSW Premier League would be a good place to start maybe? Someone here from Sydney may be able to help you out more in regard to this.

Play for Marconi. :d

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

immegrating or just travelling mate?

Recommend that you visit The Football NSW website.

If you want specifics then talk to the locals, State League teams hold trials - approach the club(s) in the area you will be living and see what comes of it. They should all have websites with a way to contact the club, good luck!

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is its not just about football.

Hey Richie.

The next level down from the A-league is probably the Youth League (just like the A-league but for U20s (IIRC)). The Youth League is also a national competition with the squads and teams being run by the A-league franchises plus the Australian Institute of Sport.

The next level below this are the State Leagues. So NSWPL or Victorian State League, depending where you will be based. As far as NSWPL goes there are some really strong clubs at the moment. Sutherland Sharks are currently top of the tree after winning NSWPL League and Cup titles. They are my local team and i know a few of the lads... a great bunch of blokes. One ex-Sutherland player was signed last year by Sydney FC and has been starting regularly for them this season (Brendan Gan).

Other NSWPL teams that are consistently there or there abouts are Sydney Olympic, Manly, Sydney United and Marconi Stallions (and Sutherland Sharks as i mentioned earlier). From the Football NSW website listed in the previous post you will surely be able to get into contact with Club Management to organise trials or an interview.

Sutherland Sharks also play in a nice, quaint li'l stadium called Seymour Stadium on an all-weather pitch which bodes well for training and matchplay during what can sometimes be a wet winter here in Sydney.

Let me know if there is anything else mate.

A-League>>>>A-League Youth League>>>>W-League (womens league)

Then it's divided into the state leagues. eg, NSW Premier League, Victorian Premier League.
NSW Premier League
NSW Super League
NSW State League Div. 1
NSW State League Div. 2
The all your local All age mens teams from whatever local clubs.

I'm assuming it's the same in all states,

Shit i just realised i hadn't written back. Sorry s_f

Yep i played the first ever "unofficial" match once the ground had been done during an internship at Toyota where it was the Toyota Marketing team vs Coca Cola marketing team. I scored a goal from nearly halfway, and two more on the day but that means nothing because everybody on mine and the other team were over 45 and marketing execs who hadn't really played in 20 yrs.

I play PL1s in the Sutherland Shire or Premier League or whatever the fuck it's called now. I have played on that ground heaps (maybe close to 40 or so times?) in the last 4 or so yrs. It is a really good ground to play on at night because the dew comes down and slightly whets the surface. The ball travels across it brilliantly when it's like this and it's always a bit fun playing under lights in front of a bit of a crowd (100 ppl or so still counts!!! haha). Again, when it's raining and stuff its a great ground to play at. But I really think it should be hosed down before matches tbh.

I have played there about 5-8 times during summer at the very start of the season and for trail games and it is absolutely painful when the weather is hot. The rubber really soaks in the heat and you can feel it through the soles of your boots. No joke the temperature on the actual playing surface is well over 45-50 degrees when it's normally about thirty because of the radiant heat from the surface. The ball holds up a little when it's dry so there is more running that needs to be done and hydration can become a real problem. Sliding tackles on the surface in the dry and heat only end in tears... trust me. It's bad enough when it's a graze, but the combination of grazing and heat-burn (kind of like carpet burn) is fucking painful.

When the weather is below 28 degrees 10/10, at night 10/10, in wet weather 10/10, in dry, hot weather 4/10.

Overall i give it about an 8/10.

It's awesome that the Smith's (Dad is President of the Sutherland Sharks Football Club and family who run the ground) are so accommodating to everybody and go out of their way to make the ground available for everybody. This yr alone (because of the amount of wet weather etc) we played about 8 or more games there during the normal season, including state cup.

We got to the semi finals, lost 3-2 to a local team and beat them 5-0 two weeks later. Go figure!

Easily. When he was around King Tom was honestly the best surface in Australia and definitely the best surface in the NSL. Great that they names the bar after him at the ground.
