Velaphi can do the job for us I think. A-League doesn't have to many good strikers anyway, I'd be more worried about bolstering our defence.

Velaphi was brilliant for the roar...if he is half as good for the glory then they will be fine. Stop signing has-beens!!!! Or are they never-were's?

If Juric is fit enough, he'd be ample to keep Velaphi on his toes and pass on some experience to the kid. He's played a lot overseas, after all. Tando could learn from him.
I'd still play Tando though, until he has a bad run, then let him compete with Juric to get the spot back. You can't really do that with Jason as he's a complete statue these days since that horrible leg break.

Doubt it, to be honest. I'm just saying what /I'd/ do with Tando, not what will actually happens. If he comes here it'll have to be as number one... unless we're really smart and employ him as a Goalkeeping coach as well... Though I doubt that's the case. Still, chances are he'd get injured or lose form at some point, giving Tando an opportunity. From there, they could fight it out.

Velaphi needs a few more years. He made some amazing saves last season, but also conceded some absolute shockers. Its good to see that they are looking at replacing Jason, as hes definitely past his prime. Tomich is just too slow, but unlike Velaphi, he wont get any better.
I dont know what Juric is like, but he cant be too bad if he's playing for Hannover. Germany has always produced some reasonably good goalkeepers, so he must be ok to make it as a foreigner in the league.

Quote:He would'nt get start in the state league teams! Well that's a pretty dumb statement, considering he was the Perth SC keeper in the WA state league two years ago... has he gotten worse in that time?

Velaphi is over-rated. Athletic, yes. Reliable, no.

It's tough being reliable when you've had essentially 1/2 a year's experience at top level. His confidence, and therefore reliability, will grow with time.
Jeez, every young keeper has to be the next Oliver Kahn these days. It's fine being the second best young keeper in the country, you know. Doesn't mean you have to give up on your career...

I watch frank train at 96 training grounds and he goes quite well, always in goal for a practice game with the squad.however with robert enke (german 3rd keeper) he wont get a start.made some bench appearances the last weeks.maybe this weekend he could start.last game,96 have nothing to play for.perth would be great for him, he will be successful.like covic has.
