Where do you think our top Victorian state leagues(VPL and state league division 1)would rank in the a european league system?, for example in england or in the french or spainish league systems.

Can't say for the VPL 'cause I've never seen it myself, but in terms of the general level of the NSWPL (obviously averaged out as much as possible on both either side), I'd put it at + -, - Blue Square Premier. The plus end of the spectrum being that some of the players and level of play can reach your League 2+, but on the most part it's almost BSP level.
So I wouldn't expect a huge variance in level from NSWPL to VPL. The fact that the variance from State League to A-League and the relative smaller jumps from the 5th tier in England (BSP) up and down, means the aggregate level of the VPL/NSWPL might assume a rating of say 44/100 + - 4(on a world league standard of play scale).
I'd have: Premier League - 83.5 + - 4 Championship - 71 + - 3.5 League 1 - 62 + - 3 League 2 - 56 +- 3 BSP - 47 + - 3 NSWPL 44 + - 4
A-League - 67.5 + - 3

Average players from BSP would do well in the VPL, average players from the VPL wouldn't get a look in at the BSP.
I'd put VPL around 6th division standard, that Bl Sq North/South.
By comparison, A-League would be upper League One on average.

Having watched BSP, BSS and Ryman League games while in England, I reckon all conference sides would shit over state league teams.

Sydney Oh-Lym-Pic would clearly be knocking Manchester United and City off their perch.

By comparison, A-League would be upper League One on average. Most A League teams play a better style of football than upper League One. Surprisingly a fellow from the Tassie split state league has just been awarded a contract in Blue Star Premier. I didn't think many of our players would make that standard. That CB, Hughes ( I think), for Fury was pretty effective in the A League. I'm not sure if he was from League One or Two? Edited by Decentric: 3/1/2012 12:04:32 AM

That CB, Hughes ( I think), for Fury was pretty effective in the A League. I'm not sure if he was from League One or Two? Hughes came from Walsall in League One, left for Bury in League One. Was wanted by other A-League sides after Fury were closed down. He's played about half of Bury's games this season - not sure if there have been injuries keeping him out or if it's because he's not the best player at the club. Either way, a first team regular in the A-League becomes a semi-regular at a top half of League One - which is approximately where I place the A-league. No surprise in a decent kid from Tassie, or any other state, can step up to 5th division level - the occasional kid will always be able to do it. It's filling up numerous teams in numerous leagues nation wide that are the issue. We'll get there eventually - but not as long as the various leagues are so widely spread and the best players so dispersed.
