It is pretty clear they have a top starting 11 but without Broich they struggle, shoould they be looking for more depth in the playmaker role? 'if so who should they buy?

Remembering they have a pretty strong balance sheet now with the new owners, i'd like to see that M spot filled! My shopping list miht include

Local/aussie
Bresciano would be an interisting option, if he could be brought home.

Anyone else

Yasuhito Endo from J league, qulaity player and would easliy be the best signing for the A league to date.

Its tricky one. Ideally I'd like to see them get a nice foreign marquee but they already have a full foreign quota. Ideally they'd probably like to get Cahill from Everton but the chances of that happening are pretty slight.

Nathan Burns keeps getting linked to a move back here and they could do a lot worse.

Two further names they might look at are two names that are always linked to a move back here- Carney and Holland. Would be very surprised if they didn't look at Holland. He is an attacking mid from memory, Aussie, and not getting minutes. Could be worth a punt.

With only really Stefanutto for LB, and Carney able to provide some attacking threat from the left, he might also be worth a look

True about the Foreign quota, however i heard reports that Mohamed Adnan could apply for refugee status and be granted citizenship, like what Gold coast have done with a couple of their foreign signings, and is Henrique eligible for citizenship now as well?

I don't know much about Holland, but if he is signed with Twenty he must have some class, wouldn't be happy with Carney, and i don't know if Cahill fits that "system" the roar like to play, he is more of a target man than a ball player...

I just think Carney has been out of the game too long right now, if he can get back on the pitch for a season then he'd be a prospect for sure, but they shouldn't rush to sign an unfit player just cause he has played in europe, there is no dout he has class but you want a proven/100% fit player to fill your M spot. thoughts of Nicky Carle in 2010, or Calina come to mind , big name sigining but not fit at the time of signing.. Carl has come good now but that put a big dent in the budget for Sydney and they slipped off the pace last year as a result.

not to sure about cahill or wilkshire coming back. dont know if a bid for burns would be worth the time and money seeing as broich and nichols have got that area covered. the thought of a player like endo in the a-league, a long shot but wow

The refugee status thing making a player not count as a foreigner only counts under a-league rules, the rule isn't congnised by the AFC.

Basically if the Roar sign anyone, they either have to be Aussie, or we have to let some foreigners go

i hope so. its tough though, because we have a marquee spot but we would have to get rid of a foreigner.

Sure as hell dont want Adnan and Broich to go.

Besart is a goal getter and with the right service, would be punishing opposition. Issey has shown glimpses and cant be thrown out, he deserves a go.

we can only aussie then.

Interestingly enough, Brisbane signed Carney on this transfer window in my Sydney FC save on FM.

Perhaps the FM overlords know something we don't. ;)

Funny, cause Carney was at Twente as well.

I think Carney would be an good signing. Steff is still defending well but too slow to get beyond the opposition down the left - limits the potency of our left side attack. Carney is a serviceable defender and an attacking option well suited to our playing style. Capable of scoring 2 or 3 goals a season as well.
