Watched APIA v Olympic yesterday at Lambert and it finished 1 all.
I am sure even the most staunch Olympic fan will agree that APIA were clearly the dominant side, and should have won.
Good solid hit out for both squads.
Based on what I saw, Olympic miss both Smith and Mileski terribly, and they won't go back to back.
APIA a mid table team. U shouldve come past and said Hi Since you think you know who I am, why didn't you? Fotress Belmore, I am entitled to make any opinion I want. I just think Smith and Mileski are massive losses. Also I thought the defense wasn't as tight without Luksic and that other Greek boy, who's name escapes me. Both of them were excellent last year. I could be wrong, but hey football is a game of opinions.

But it would have been clear as daylight where I was further new signings for Rockdale City Suns: David Talevski an AIS graduate and former Australian youth international has joined the club from the Newcastle Jets as has Tommy Cirjak who most recently was with the Brisbane Roar youth team and previously under contract with Portsmouth FC in the EPL until visa issues caused him to have to return to home. The Club has also signed Sydney FC goalkeeper Ryan Norval and experienced defender Ricky Pernich joins the club from Sydney United. Finally, recently retired Rockdale City Suns and former NSL player Sash Trajcevski was announced as Assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Good luck to Ryan. Hope he gets first team football over there, he's good enough IMO.
Ricky and Cirjak as well, ey? Might have to start calling you guys United rejects :P
In all seriousness, a couple of decent pick ups there. Cirjak could be a fantastic player if he gets his head screwed on right

Cirjak could be a fantastic player if he gets his head screwed on right Im expecting Ryan to start. theres a lot of potential in these guys. pre season ricky has been very solid and will push the others hard. its a talented and young squad. fingers crossed we improve a little on last year and we play finals football. theyre not united rejects, theyve seen the light! hehehe. same cant be said for Mr hayes! hehehe speaking of united, weve got you guys for trials this weekend. seriously though, great launch yesterday, and best of luck to all teams. shaping up to be a fantastic season.

Its going to be a wet year, unless they dont play in the rain, i can see a lot of cancellations, re-scheduling, playing midweek to catch-up or play on alternative synthetic pitches.

Who said you werent allowed an opinion I just disagreed with yours I think the Greek fella you're talking about is the human wrecking ball that is Jerry Kalouris along with Richie Luksic were good for Olympic last season. No matter how good or how shit a season clubs had, the NSWPL is the type of comp where there is always a massive turnover of players every season with masses of players moving on or being cut every season, very cutthroat

batfink wrote:isn't it the council that cancels the matches???? and insurance risk??? iirc the council doesnt control games in the NWSPL. however i think in the lower state leagues they do (unless the grounds are privatly owned) but dont quote me on this. also last week the bdsfa closed all fields, yet prospect united (div 2) still had their fields open and played their state league game, as well as all friendlies for lower divisions. as for insurance risk, i know if the council does close the ground, and your team still trains, then the players are not insured, and its the coaches responsibility (this is for general teams not state league teams). either way im sure the spartans are loving this weather, renting out their staduim to others and recouping some of the costs for the synthetic field

bonnyrigg 3-2 Spartans first 20mins were all bonnyrigg, scored 2 goals, could easily had 4. then spartans score 2 goals in 2 mins to go half time at 2-2. second half very even with both teams having chances. spartans missed a penalty, and bonnyrigg scored in the last 2 mins for the win.

Went to watch Parramatta and South Coast play...Wanted to watch kwabena appiah play for Parramatta but didnt play.
Anyways Parramatta ended up winning 3-0. South Coast werent too bad but Parramatta were just too good for them in end. Still a very inexperienced team in my opinion, if they versed a Sydney United tonight they would of conceeded a couple

I watched Bonyrigg v Spartans last night, and it finished 3-2.
The eagles were up by 2 after 15 but could of had 5.
Made some changes at HT and Spartans fought back.
IMO Spartans will be struggling in a big way this season.

not necessarily. i have watched pretty much all their trials and theres one glaring weakness in the team, and that is through the middle. they have tried to combat this by playing 4231 and 4132 and it really didnt work. i dont like picking on one particular player or anything, but it was no coincidence that when one certain player came off injured in the first half, it then stopped bonnyrigg killing the spartans through the middle. i first thought that they would struggle but every trial game they have played they have shown promise. i think alot depends on the U20's, and U18's this season to see who gets relegated. imo there are a couple of teams who will be there, south coast, parra, spartans, manly and maybe APIA.

Field looks great, and from all reports the players absolutely love playing on it.
With Manly getting theirs down now, and APIA at the end of this season pretty soon half of the league will have synthetic pitches.
At least, there won't be as many wash outs anymore.
