not sure on whatever Rochdale were planing on starting him ,but now they will have to do without the youngster Given there's also a high chance of Sydney now ripping up his contract, Norval's obviously the person to step up to the #2 position, and get a professional contract, too.

SCW: BWE 2:3 It is great to start the season with a win. BWE from the first minute in a scoring position through Jordan Simpson, only to miss another chance two minutes later. First goal to BWE converted from penalty by Robbie Younis, SCW equalised from the penalty, only for BWE to score again from penalty by Robbie to lead 2:1. Equaliser to Wolfs finally come from open play, only to be upstaged by great hat trick by Robbie Younis. Prior this goal Tynan Diaz was actually crushed into the side fence, referee played on from what the goal eventuated, but no card was shown for this offence after which Tynan was subbed and limped of the field. Both sides had great chances and wood work was hit a few times but BWE better side on the night. After a great run Ken Chun was also brought down in the Wolfs box only for the referee to take it outside the box for a free kick.
Outstanding players on the night for BWE: keeper Nikodin Matic, Mitchell Long, Robbie Younis, Ken Chun.
Referee was poor 3 penalties and not one yellow/red card from this offences and the challenge on Tynan Diaz right out of Kevin Muscat book, only 3 yellows for back chatting?
John Crehan Park I honestly do not think that the lights are adequate for night play standard.
SCW had a Wolf’s cove in one corner and good on them, atmosphere was good possible 500-700 people.

Yes agree. Rockdale started strong, but Olympic gradually took control of the game. Olympic had more clear cut chances, although some tackles were pretty rough. Penalty seemed harsh, - how about the injury time - nearly 7 minutes!

Peter Triantis' 2nd yellow was an absolute joke, the kid got fouled and fell to the floor and as he did that his arms touched the ball, and the ref books him, the ref in that game was just terrible.
Norval class keeper, he'll save Rockdale's bacon a few times this season

Norval class keeper, he'll save Rockdale's bacon a few times this season Yes correct - I was directly in front of it. The Triantis did grab the ball with his hands - but he was fouled from behind. Rockdales keeper seems like class. He pulled off a couple of great saves. Rockdale should be competitive - they have a couple of speedy players up front. Edited by Olympic1: 2/4/2012 05:52:24 PM

Edited by Olympic1: 2/4/2012 05:52:24 PM arguably yes but im sick of players thinking if they fall to the ground and grab the ball that theyre entitled to grab the ball. its a tactic and for once a ref said enough is enough. it happened twice. the foul was soft and there was no need for him to grab the ball. its clear why he did it cause we were in a dangerous position. his card may have been harsh in some respect, but his brother should of been marched anyway. anyway, overall we played much better second half, i would of taken the point given our first half effort but wasnt to be. norvall is class and its why we were so happy to sign the kid. our number 2 is also a great prospect. we have much more pace in our team but cant help but think if jasli and mitwali started we would of been much more dangerous. they were great when they came on. anyway, theres potential in our team thats for sure. question of getting the right combinations. olympic should be up there. bring on the demons.

The goals from Blacktown City v Manly. Fantastic goal by Chris Payne to open things up, but both goals from Blacktown, absolutely superb. Quite frankly Gary van Egmond was stupid to release him. IMO he's the perfect replacement for Michael Bridges at Newcastle. Sure, Bridges is decent, but he's too injury prone and past it. Payne would have been the perfect striker for Newcastle, and excellent squad depth at any club. Would have him back in a heart beat for squad depth at Sydney.

Agree with Kolner, I hate when players fall and grab the ball.
Yellow card is perfectly fine if that was the case

Yellow card is perfectly fine if that was the case Should there not be any discretion then given Triantis was actually fouled and that he was already on a yellow card, surely not something to get a guy sent off for

If he has grabbed the ball before the ref has blown for a foul then he has intentionally handled the ball - a cardable offence. I'd also put it in the 'unsporstmanlike conduct' category... also a cardable offence

grabing the ball is a deplorable tactic that I will be employing all season.
