Last week was all about the long-range crackers, this week the free kick maestro's. Shame the Camera angle isn't clearer for Marconi's screamer.

A few howler's by some of the goalkeepers, too. Matthew Nash . Rockdale-Blacktown game didn't have too much flash keeping either by the looks of things.

Have Rockdale changed their home ground?

Rockdale played at seymour shaw park(sutherland) as there were drainage issues at ilinden park(rockdale)

weve had extensive drainage installed under the playing surface which was delayed due to the weather we had meaning the contractors were not able to commence by the scheduled date. Weve also finished the roof over the seating and it looks fantastic. anyway, all going well, we'll be back home for either our next home game but definitely the one after that.

Was at the game last night, Bonnyrigg deserved the 3 points, decent game, have to say Ken Chun and David Vrankovic were stand outs, APIA seem to be lacking a striker up front. The Lambert park pitch is also quite terrible for only the third round of the season.

I went along to a few games last year and the pitch was nothing short of atrocious.

Sutherland have come from behind to lead Manly 2-1 midway through the 2nd half. Goals to Panni Nikas and Bailey

Blacktown Spartans are leading Sydney Olympic 2-1. By the sounds of things a couple of red cards in the game, too.

I think it's still 0-0 between Rockdale and South Coast.

Full time:

Blacktown Spartans: 2
Sydney Olympic: 2

I know it's only round 3, but I think Spartans will be the dark horse of the NSWPL this year. They've been strong for the last 2 seasons in the Super League - their Waratah Cup performances reflect this. I think they'll be in the finals come end of season.

Final scores I believe...

Blacktown Spartans 2 - 2 Sydney Olympic
South Coast 3 - 0 Rockdale
Sutherland 2 - 2 Manly Utd

Heineken,

Don't think so. Spartans have the first 3 out of 4 rounds at home then the wheels will fall off. Blacktown City pumped Olympic 5-1 just before season kickoff. spartans have only played bottom sides apart from Marconi. I'm guessing spartans won't finish bottom but nowhere near the top 4.

In other results:

A second half blitz by South Coast have ripped Rockdale 3-0.

And a hard-fought game saw Sutherland draw 2-2 with Manly, who are still yet to win their first game along with APIA and Parramatta.

spartans 2-2 olympic
spartans got the first, and olympic scored just before half time.
in the second half both teams had a player sent off.
spartans made it 2-1, then olympic equalised.
spartans should have won it. have 3 glorious chances near the end. the first chance was harder to miss than score, the second happened two seconds later, but was a good save. the third was very close to the end, a one on one, but the keeper saved it.
alot of yellows, i think 6 for each team, 2 red cards, 4 goals, a good game.

Elrich... not surprising at all. He copped 3 or 4 reds last season, didnt he?

I tipped the Spartans to finish just outside the top 5. Theyve got a decent mix of youth and experience over there

he was a dick.
it was obvious he was going for 2 yellows.
he started swearing in england and arabic (i think it was).
got into the changing room, started smashing things. it was funny as i was standing outside the dressing room, and the director of spartans goes up to the olympic offical and says "you know whatever he breaks you pay for", and the olympic offical just nods quietly, then andrea walks in, and it goes all quiet.

Blacktown City 1 V Sydney United 1

Probably a fair result really both sides created plenty of chances. Yes a last gasp goal to city in injury time but probably about right due to the injury time of players.

Definately a get out of jail card played by City.

Parramatta FC 0-0 Marconi.

Such an entertaining 0-0 game...Parramatta should of won. Kwabena Appiah-Kubii man of the match in my opinion, had Marconi's defense wrapped up. Should of scored a couple. For marconi numbder 14?? quality player upfront. Severino was so dangerous with his set pieces. Disgusting challenge from Parramatta's player to get sent off. Entertaining game of football though.

yeah parra definately had the better chances and more of the them......10 men from the 13th minute of second half....a very young squad that have only been together 6 weeks.....
really good result....nice to get off the mark.... :)

the ref killed us. two very dubious sedn offs, both before half time. we outplayed them with 9 on the field.
its so frustrating. we should of won last week and again this week and have nothing to show for it. playing with 9 men for half a game is a killer and even then we were right in it.

anyway, we gotta get something from our next game against sutho and wont be easy.

on a positive note, we won 13,14,15,18 and 20's and drew in the 16's. first grade should of put the icing on the cake but didnt!

are Rockdale putting more resources into youth this year? your youth has been quite average for the last 10 or so years, or is it to do with now being in the NSWPL?

naturally, the step up from development league three years ago to PL was a steep one and its commonly acknowledged by FNSW that promoted clubs traditionally struggle first year back. last year was seen as a a year of consolidation but the results were very ordinary. we set ourselves the goal of correcting that, weve invested in our facilities and ensuring we have the right group of coaches, and so far this season, its been pretty good.
hopefully the youth continue to do well because weve got some great people at the club this year, both player wise and coaching.

So that goal against Blacktown means Luka Glavas has equaled Graham Arnold's club record of 68 goals in the league. He still has a bit to go to beat Arnie's overall record of 84 goals.

Good move, tbh. APIA are really missing Robbie Younis. I'd suggest we'd loan them Mark Bridge, but that's just mean.
