Right, may as well start one of these. First up is the Night Series, beginning February 3 and running til March 10, and the interesting step taken this year of bringing in clubs from both Division One and the new Saturday Division Two as well. Could be some big scorelines here! The groups have also been spread out by suburban locale, so hopefully it means all areas of the Perth football community can get down to a game near them: Quote: Group A (Percy Doyle Reserve, Sorrento) Sorrento UWA-Nedlands ECU Joondalup Quinns FC
Group B (Macedonia Park, Stirling) Stirling Lions Fremantle SC Bayswater City Subiaco AFC
Group C (Dalmatinac Park, Spearwood) Cockburn City Rockingham City Bunbury Forum Force Mandurah City
Group D (Alfred Skeet Reserve, Armadale) Armadale SC Gosnells City Inglewood Utd (or will it be Inglewood Glory?) Melville City
Group E (Hartfield Park, Forrestfield) Forrestfield Utd Swan Utd Fremantle Utd Western Knights
Group F (Dorrien Gardens, Perth) Wanneroo City Dianella White Eagles Perth SC Olympic Kingsway
Group G (E&D Litis Stadium, Floreat) Shamrock Rovers Southern Spirit Floreat Athena Canning City
Group H (Wotton Reserve, Morley) Joondalup City Ashfield Morley Windmills Balcatta
I of course will be paying much attention to 'the grand old pommy shitfight' up near me in the Northern suburbs - Sorrento v ECU is always tasty, if not a bit harsh on the neck... Edited by Joffa: 30/1/2012 09:41:31 PMEdited by Joffa: 7/5/2014 07:25:13 PM

Of course. http://www.shamrockrovers.com.au/aboutDid very well in the First Division last year, at one stage people thought they might be up for promotion - unfortunately for them Bunbury's incredible home record (11 games, 11 wins) pretty much ensured that the south west side would be going up.

I think I'll dump Floreat for the Shamrock ROvers I like the CMFEU angle.
I wonder what people will say?

Chief of the 'Ethnic Eradication Department' of 'Australian Patriots For the Betterment Of Australian Football', Captain Kangaroo Kapow, will be right on it before you can say,

Would have been much more sensible if Canning took the place of Inglewood. And I'm not just saying that because I play for Melville 8-[

Should be interesting to see who you're lining up against Benjo! Though I doubt any NYL players will be released for pre-season games...

Yeah, I'm hoping not. My main concern is that Inglewood will be a big, strong team, something we don't have much of (or at least we didn't before I went on holiday). I know a guy who played in their 18's last year, but I haven't spoken to him recently about their team. I doubt they'll play any NYL players, considering the season is winding down and they'll want them for finals. Even so, will be good to play a Premier League team and see how our standard compares, even if they were were one of the weaker 18's teams last year IIRC.

Graham Normanton. Best coach in the state league IMHO.

Hey mods; as NSW and VIC get their places in the sun as stickies, how about some love for the equivalent thread for sandgropers?
EDIT: The FFA may forget that WA exists, but FourFourTwo does not! \o/

So apparently, according to the first team coach at training last night, Inglewood don't have an 18s team yet. Something to do with the Glory takeover at the club. So at this stage, my first Night Series match is called off. Very frustrating.

You're in the 18s squad then? Interesting. Do ECU dominate that level?

Yes, I'm in the train-on squad at the moment and the coach has indicated that he'd like me in the Saturday team. I'm not sure, as this will be my first Saturday League season. I know they did when i was playing Under 11s to Under 15s. I have a feeling they do.

Last night's results:
Wanneroo City 0 - 2 Dianella White Eagles Perth SC 1 - 0 Kingsway Olympic
Stirling Lions 4 - 0 Fremantle SC Bayswater City 4 - 2 Subiaco AFC
Perth is going to have their group at a canter - Stirling v Baysie is going to be a great little game though.

Big upset in Group A overnight, with Premier League Sorrento going down to UWA-Nedlands from Division Two (the old Sunday League). Meanwhile we had big wins for Cockburn and Bunbury. Well... they would normally be considered big wins until Floreat came along that is.
ECU Joondalup 3 - 1 Quinns FC Sorrento FC 1 - 2 UWA-Nedlands FC
Bunbury Forum Force 4 - 1 Mandurah City FC Cockburn City FC 5 - 2 Rockingham City FC
Fremantle United SC 0 - 1 Western Knights Forrestfield United 0 - 2 Swan United
Shamrock Rovers 1 - 0 Southern Spirit Floreat Athena 10 - 0 Canning City

Turns out Under 18s don't have a Night Series after all. Not entirely sure why we were told we defiantly did by nearly everyone at the club.

Harsh. No chance of a run in the seniors then I assume.

Nah, not for me. We've got a friendly each Saturday for the next 8 weeks leasing up to the season. There's one guy in our team though, who got a hatrick in our friendly against Dianella yesterday, who the first team coach already wants in the first team. Looked brilliant yesterday.

Yeah, be interesting to see just how similar the Inglewood lineup of yesterday is to the Inglewood team that will be playing in a couple of months time...
