Honestly talking about that stupid little Council called the City of Sydney is obviously not what I was talking about so that's just being pedantic.

I said they were the best stretch of beaches in the world which they are. And some of those beaches are the best individual beaches in the world but together they are the best stretch of beaches.

Okay if we are talking about the best beaches in Australia i know which are the best.

In 2008 i cycled around Australia's coastline and have seen nearly every single beach along our coastline.

The hands down BEST beach in Australia is at Coral Bay in Western Australia. Un-fucking-believable. The Ningaloo Reef comes right up to the shoreline (about 20m from the sand), the sun sets over the ocean and the beach stretches forever... paradise!

The best beaches for a major city in Australia are in Sydney. I live in Cronulla and the south beaches are amazing. Bondi, Coogee etc are also really good and Manly all the way up to Palm Beach is amazing! Melb has nothing, Perth has some nice beaches in the north like Scarborough etc, Adelaide has none unless you drive all the way to Victor Harbour. Sydney wins hands down for major city beach wars.

If I'd meant that, I'd have said that.

The thing is, Sydney is like London. The city itself is only small. The Greater Sydney and Greater London are rather big. London itself is only 1 square mile.

Say againl Go to Hawaii and come back and tell me that. And don't go to the tourist beaches. Get to know a couple of locals and they'll take you to the real beaches.

Btw. Since when do beaches correlate to the awesomeness of a city? I'd have thought the actual things that constitute the aspects of the city, rather than the topography, would contribute more to how good the city was.

Like what. Talking about the beaches is no different to talking about cafes, museums and galleries etc.

Or should I go Sydney is bigger therefore we are better. Sydney has a bigger population therefore we are better. Sydney is recognised more all over the world then Melbourne therefore we are better. Sydney held the best Olympics of all time therefore we are better.

Something that's fucking man-made maybe? Something that is to do with the actual city, instead of some natural construct. If I wanted a beautiful beach, I could go to the middle of fucking nowhere.

Talk about small penis syndrome. "sydney is bigger, therefore better" - bigger how? Melbourne is a larger city. And as for beign recognised all over the world. How many international sporting events does sydney host? Everyone knows melbourne hosts the Tennis, everyone knows they host the Grand Prix.

And as for something that happened ten years ago. Ten years ago, Dubai was a camel station in the desert, now it's a metropolis. A lot can change in ten yars.

I just don't see the point in having a debate that's not going to end anytime soon and one in which there is no point and one we are never going to agree on.
