Hammers eye Spurs duo

Skysports.com understands West Ham are lining up a double swoop for Tottenham duo David Bentley and Alan Hutton.

Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola is keen to bolster his squad before the close of the transfer window and he is weighing up deals for the Spurs pair.

Bentley, who scored a goal in a rare appearance in Tuesday's win over Fulham, has failed to hold down a regular place in the Spurs side this season with Aaron Lennon keeping him on the sidelines.

The former Arsenal man is believed to be keen on a move away from White Hart Lane in search of regular first-team football and West Ham are ready to offer him the chance to move to Upton Park.

West Ham are also hoping to lure Bentley's team-mate Hutton to West London with Zola in the market for a new right-back.

Hutton has been linked with a switch away from North London after failing to hold down a consistent spot in Harry Redknapp's side.

The Scotland international could be tempted to move on in search of regular action as he looks to safeguard his place in the national team.

It remains to be seen if Redknapp would be willing to let the pair move on as he battles to guide Spurs to a top four finish this season.

City confirm Robinho exit

Manchester City have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to loan Robinho to Santos for a period of six months.

It is understood that the Brazilian will now return to his homeland on Sunday, with City announcing Santos will assume all of the player's contract terms, including wages and bonuses.

Robinho stated prior to Sunday's FA Cup victory at Scunthorpe, in which he started and scored, that he was unhappy he was not guaranteed first-team football under Roberto Mancini in a World Cup year.

Manager Mancini wanted the British-record signing of predecessor Mark Hughes to stay at Eastlands but omitted the former Real Madrid man from Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final defeat at Manchester United.
Criticism

The move was viewed as evidence that Robinho, who had previously stated he was '90 per cent certain' to join former club Santos, was set to leave and the £32.5million man's temporary exit has now become reality.

Mancini told City's official website: "Robinho is someone who needs to be playing regularly and we wish him well for the period of his loan."

Robinho joined City on the final day of the transfer window of summer 2008 but, despite a bright start, his career stalled at Eastlands and the 26-year-old has come in for criticism from fans who have been left underwhelmed by his attitude.

Speculation in South America has suggested that, having agreed to the deal, City will demand the first option on Santos forward Neymar in the future.

City have also yet to give up hope of signing Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnsonbefore Monday's transfer deadline, despite the Championship club snubbing an offer.

Spurs confirm Gudjohnsen capture

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Eidur Gudjohnsen has joined Tottenham on loan until the end of the season.

Spurs were strong favourites to land the Iceland international's signature, with the player favouring to switch to White Hart Lane.
West Ham had also been in the hunt for the experienced forward, but have been pipped to the post by their capital rivals.

Gudjohnsen, who spent eight years in England with Bolton and Chelsea between 1998 and 2006, returns to the Premier League after struggling to settle at French outfit Monaco.

He only moved to Stade Louis II from Catalan giants Barcelona last summer, but was unable to produce his best form in Ligue 1.

Gudjohnsen will be hoping that a spell at Spurs helps to revive his career, especially as Redknapp has hinted that he is prepared to utilise the 31-year-old's experience as much as possible.

"I just thought he's a good player and he can play several positions for us, he can play in a midfield or attacking-midfield role if we want to change our system," he said.

"We've lost Aaron Lennon [to injury] so we haven't got a great deal of width. We can play a diamond formation if we want to and he can be a big player in that system.

"So, yes, we took him on loan until the end of the season to see how it goes."

Blues agree Dindane deal

Sky Sports News understands Birmingham have had a £4million bid for Aruna Dindane accepted by Lens.

The Ivory Coast international was due to spend the entire 2009/10 campaign at Portsmouth, but ongoing financial troubles on the South Coastmean that deal could be scrapped.

Pompey are desperate to trim their wage bill and a number of their top stars have already been linked with imminent exits.

Dindane looks set to be among those heading for the Fratton Park exit, as he makes the journey north to Birmingham.

The Blues have money to spend during the January transfer window and have stepped up their pursuit of new recruits this week.

Alex McLeish has made bolstering his attacking options his top priority, and the Scot feels Dindane would be a useful addition.

The African ace has spent the last five years on the books of French outfit Lens, while he has also turned out for Belgian side Anderlecht during his time in European football.

He now appears set to join the St Andrews revolution, with Birmingham looking to cement their standing among the Premier League elite.

Anderson in Lyon link

Manchester United midfielder Anderson is wanted by Lyon, according to the Brazil international's agents.

Anderson's future at Old Trafford has been the subject of recent speculation after he was left out of the squad for United's last two games.

Reports have claimed that Anderson paid an unauthorised visit back to Brazil and he is in line to be fined two weeks' wages.

He was linked with a move to Vasco da Gamain his homeland, although the club have played down suggestions they could sign the 21-year-old.

However, Lyon may be able to offer Anderson a route out of United after the player's representatives confirmed the interest from the French giants.

A spokesman for his agents Gestifute told The Sun: "We are working towards some authorisation with United.

"The subject could be closed this weekend."

There are suggestions that United will look to have the highly-rated goalkeeper Hugo Llorisincluded any deal which would see Anderson head to Stade Gerland.

Anderson has made 96 appearances for the Red Devils since joining from Porto in 2007 and his only goal arrived in the 3-1 win at Tottenham earlier this season.

Hot and cold is the best way to sum up his time with us, I remember all these fan boi dickheads at my school seeing youtube clips of him before he had even played a game for us and saying how he is better than Paul Scholes all ready. I won't miss him at all tbh, he has shown flashes of absolute class but flashes arent enough to get you regular time at a club like United and apparently he skipped training to go and talk to Vasco and he and SAF have fallen out. I
f we got a decent fee I would not care if he left but if we get a keeper like Lloris out of this I will go to Manchester and swim across the channel with Anderson on my back if thats what it takes

haha i laughed when i read the "better than paul scholes" bit, paul scholes passing game is one the best there is, anderson did show times where he possibly could get there one day but lacked the consistency, not worth the 18 million pounds we spent on him and not even the 98 appearances, i often found him to be too selfish in a lot of games making stupid decisions and costing us dearly, scoring only 1 goal in his time also pissed me off, when i think of brazilians i think of the flair and attacking abilities that most have brought to the game which anderson never really brought to united.

Wilshere makes Bolton move

Bolton have completed the loan signing of highly-rated Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week, Bolton beat off competition from other clubs to land the England Under 21 international.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is happy to loan out Wilshere so that he can continue his development with first-team opportunities limited at the Emirates.

Wilshere has signed on loan until the end of the season and he has been included in the squad for this weekend's game at Liverpool.

Trotters boss Owen Coyle was delighted to land the prodigious midfielder.

"Jack is a talented, young, hungry player who I think has got a bright future ahead of him," Coyle told the club's official website.

"He has got an abundance of quality and he will enhance our squad.

"It is similar to the deal with Vladimir Weiss in terms of the belief that I can help the player and the player can help this football club.

"The deals suit all parties concerned if the boys go and deliver on the pitch."

Meanwhile, Bolton have turned Paul Robinson's loan move into a permanent deal.

Robinson initially joined Bolton on loan from West Brom in the summer and he has now earned a long-term stay at the Reebok Stadium
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12875_5894315,00.html

Will be good for him to get some gametime. Looking for him to break into the first team next year much like Ramsey is starting to do now.

Yeah I know I ranted at the kid big time, Scholes' passing is simply a joy to behold and he has scored some incredibly important and decisive goals for the club as well, his contributions have been epic. In my opinion Fletcher is undroppable this season and Carrick is far more prefferable to Anderson and a fit Scholes likewise is too. CM is an are we do need to strengthen though because it looks like we will lose Anderson and Scholes can't play for ever and unfortunately it doesnt look like Hargreaves will be able to do much for us either

bit unfortunate with hargreaves, he showed some great promise until all these injuries started hampering his career with us, perhaps ferguson will find another young talent to mould over the coming months like he did with ronaldo :)

Crespo on the move

Hernan Crespo has returned to Parma in a deal which has seen two further moves brokered.

Crespo originally moved to Parma, his first ever club in Europe, in 1996 and he enjoyed four years at the Ennio Tardini before moving on to to play for Lazio, Inter Milan, Chelsea and AC Milan.

His last club was Genoa but he failed to make the expected impact with them and now Parma have moved to snap him up.

"I've always supported Parma and to come back is an incredible emotion," the 34-year-old said.

Following Crespo's arrival Parma sold Nicola Amoruso to Atalanta - who in-turn have allowed Robert Acquafresca to return to Genoa to replace Crespo.

Skysports.com understands Stoke are poised to hijack Tottenham's move for Portsmouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Tottenham thought they had sealed a move for Begovic after agreeing a deal with Portsmouth, but Stoke have moved to steal him from under their noses.

Stoke are understood to have agreed a fee with Portsmouth and Begovic is now set to make the move to the Britannia Stadium.

Portsmouth are resigned to losing Begovic as they look to ease their financial troubles and the 22-year-old is expected to be followed out of the exit door at Fratton Park by a number of other stars before the close of the transfer window.

Potters boss Tony Pulis had targeted a move for Pompey keeper David James during this month's transfer window, but the deal has been delayed on a number of occasions and now he has turned his attentions to Begovic.

Espanyol confirm Boro interest

Espanyol have confirmed that Middlesbrough are interested in signing Shunsuke Nakamura.

Boro boss Gordon Strachan knows the Japanese ace well from their time together at Celtic.

Nakamura has thus far failed to make the expected impact in Barcelona.

Now Boro, who could be set to lose Adam Johnson before Monday's transfer deadline, have made enquiries about Nakamura.

"It is true that Middlesbrough have asked about him, but nothing more," Espanyol's sporting director Ramon Planes told La Vanguardia.

"We listen to offers for all players, but I doubt that Nakamura wants to leave."

Benitez looks to future

Manager Rafa Benitez is concentrating on his future with Liverpool despite being aware of Juventus' interest.

The Serie A giants declared their interest in the struggling Spaniard this week and on Friday sacked boss Ciro Ferrara, with Alberto Zaccheroni taking his place until the end of the season.

Benitez has since been flirting with their advances but although admitting he is flattered with the link, he preferred to talk up Liverpool's future prospects with investors on the horizon.

"New investors may be coming in, and there is a possibility of a new stadium," Benitez told the Daily Mail.

"It is important now that we see these things happen. We must see the club progressing.

"We are going in the right direction, but we have to make sure we really move forward now, by lining up players who are good and available and trying to sign them.

He reiterated: "The key is the stadium and investors."

"There has been a lot of talk (about Juventus), and yes, I know about their interest.

"As a manager, you have to be proud when a big club, a top club in Europe, have an interest in you and are watching you.

"Perhaps there has been too much talking, but you cannot stop speculation."

Despite a wretched season, Benitez appears to be safe in his position at the club having signed a five-year contract last year.

And the former Valencia manager has further emphasised his desire to continue in the Reds' hot seat by striving to improve the side before the January transfer window closes on Monday.

The Reds are in need of reinforcements up front in particular, with Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones the subject of intense speculation as a loan target.

However, Benitez refused to discuss names but admits he is still keen to add to his sole signing of free transfer Maxi Rodriguez this month, albeit on a shoestring budget.

"We are working very hard under the conditions we have at this moment. But it is best not to ask me about players like Jones," said Benitez.

"I am the Liverpool manager, not the Sunderland manager."

I can see us accepting something around 10 mil tbph. We've got Gibbs as a ready-made replacement who would have probably taken Clichy's first team spot this season if he wasn't injured.
