the blacktown council has always been willing to accept a proposal for a staduim there.
as for turning the spartans home into the staduim, impossible. there is no way you would be able to fit a staduim in that surroundings. they would have to build a new staduim further in the land off the road. there is heaps of room for a carpark and other facilities there.
dont know what this would mean for aquilina reserve or the spartans home if this does happen though.

I think there's plenty of room there, though the running track might have to go.
And I doubt there is really any need for 4 softball fields anymore. I'm sure at least one could be sacrificed for more parking.
What they would need to do is find a way to make a footpath from Rooty Hill station to the park. At the moment even walking you have to follow the road all the way down to Eastern Rd and walk back up. When the Sydney Blue Sox play they run a shuttle bus, but as the crow flies it's not that far from the station if there was a direct route.

There must be enough room somewhere there because its where the World Cup stadium was to go and the 2036 Metropolitan strategy lists it as a site for possible development of a rectangular stadium.

I think you guys might be talking about two different venues, Blacktown football park (home of Blacktown Spartans and the Blacktown sports complex off the M7. I thought the article was about Spartans new home field.

Both have their address as Eastern Rd Rooty Hill. I'd be interested in more detail of the Spartans home ground and actual location if anyone has it. I've found an article about the $6.8m development it had but it didn't have a location.

the spartans home ground is across the road from blacktown olympic park. its actually right near aquilina reserve, to get into the spartans home ground you need to turn into the same driveway/side road as for aquilina reserve

I think we were talking about different places! I can't see them redevelping the site on the south side of Eastern Rd. The athletics track is within the 'Blacktown International Sportspark' precinct, and closer to the train station

Dear West Sydney and fans,

As a Sydney fan I promise to hate you with a passion. You are all bogans and the last time you took a bath was in 1993 (for some of you that was a baby bath). I will look down on you the way we look down on Newcastle scum.

I also couldn;t be happier with today's announcement, it's long overdue. Hope it's a massive success on and off the park and you guys tap into football's heartland.

I look forward to the rivalry for many years to come.

Oh and please stop beating your wives.

That is all.

if you do end up supporting west sydney it can be a trip back in time. you can grow a mullet, stop showering, hang out with your ethnic friends, go around stabbing people and you can even stop off at centrelink on your way:lol:

WS has a lifespan of a couple of seasons unless a major investor can be found. This is not good strategy.

To the new WS supporters. what would you consider a success in terms of average crowd figures for next year?

I know most outside of west syd would say perhaps 8k maybe even 10k, but for those that know the region what are you guys expecting/would consider a success?

Anything less than a 10K average will be a failure in my opinion. This is what was expected of both GC and NQ which both had a smaller population. The derby also needs to average at least 20K.

I also hope they have no marquees. As FFA will be funding the team and if they fund marquess for one team they should do it for all teams.

I am confident we will get crowds over 10k.

As for the derby we have to be smart and not expect the atmosphere of the Melbourne derby from day 1 but I think that it would easily see 20+k. Seeing Parramatta stadium full will be great to see.

obviously its too early to say.
but if the club plays out of parra, and doesnt loose some supporters by naming it stupid shit like western sydney goannas, i would say the target should be 10k. i think every club should try and at bare minimum aim for this.

Places the size of Melbourne, Brisbane, Western Sydney and Sydney need to average 10K+ just due to their population size.

I pray that they A-league do NOT do what the AFL did and leave the full 'Greater Western Sydney' in the club name unless it fits well into the name of the club (which it wont). People will know that they are from Western Sydney. Have a name like Sydney Rovers instead of some shit that tries to make it super obvious that they are from 'Greater western Sydney'

i think for the name there is one rule that mainly everyone will agree on, no americanised bullshit or animals.
something traditional.
as for west or western in the name, so far 76% of WS supporters want it in the name.

This is what counts, nothing like Roar, Heart, Mariners etc. Have you heard some of the MLS sides lol.

I would like to see West or Western in the name.
