The stadium upgrade is scheduled to commence in October and be finished before the start of next season. The new capacity will be 24,700 with the addition of 2,000 seats at each end. The stadium will remain operational throughout the upgrade.

An article in the Australian Financial Review yesterday indicated that Wanderers made a profit of $700k in only its second year in the competition. That stands up well against Victory's profit of $826k. The article indicates that the Wanderers should have a turnover of $15m this season and may well set a record profit thanks to a minimum $3m prize money from the ACL Final win and the Club World Cup.

So finally the truth comes out............WSW and Victory financially streaks ahead of the competition. =d> =d> \:d/ \:d/

Just a quick note to express my disappointment that Western Sydney Wanderers had to play its game against Wellington on Friday night just past.

I understand stadium bookings, flight bookings and TV scheduling requirements, but considering the very weak A$180k that Sky TV NZ pay for the A-League TV rights, the Phoenix have effectively lost all negotiating power, in terms of its right to be in Australian football post-2016.

The ‘feel good’ factor that the Wanderers ACL win generated was similar to November 2005 (Socceroos World Cup qualification) and should have been capitalized on, the Wanderers should not have been forced to fly to NZ mid-week as a result. More gain for the game would have been made to keep them here, and for the WSW-Phoenix game to have been rescheduled for Sunday or Monday. The FFA effectively gave the Nix the 3 points on Friday night.

I write these comments as a Road supporter, who can see outside the square when something good is happening for the Australian game overall.

Was not the schedule changed late in the piece to accommodate the Wanderers run to the ACL final?

Hard to blame Wellington for this one.

The reason WSW have so many away games to start was to help with the ACL run and presto we are now Asian champs.

Wamackie there would be no ACL win and feel good factor or media exposure without the fixtures being moved around to accommodate the ACL run.

Blaming anyone for the early schedule the WSW have is just looney, it was the right call in the end because WSW are Asian champs and i would take ACL champs over aleague champs ever time.

BTW Wanderers are 3 games into the season, we are still a chance of making finals so i don't understand why you are so cut up about the draw that was made to help WSW win the ACL.

not to mention we have the ACL again next year as well. hell missing out on the finals would probably aid us as well as we attempt to win the acl back to back.

2 Questions.

Firstly how long is it going to take before they complete the works?

Secondly what will be the new capacity? I think at the moment it's 21k if i'm not mistaken.

To 25k for the current project. Might take a bit more than a year (from memory).

Apparently, there is a further project underway for a 35k upgrade.

So is pirtek going to be affected while they are doing the upgrade? Or will it remain around the 21k odd until they complete the current project.

Capacity will not be effected for Eels or WSW during construction.
