None of the players listed above offer any steel in midfield and that is what we are lacking.

True but look back at our recent successful seasons, 07/08 and on etc. It's the same midfielders. Having the likes of Rio and Vidic every week brings that to the team. You don't have to have that type of player to bring 'steel' into the side. It can be a collective thing like we have had for so many years. I do see your point and somewhat agree with it though. We do need Fletch back though. And he would ease the nerves.

If steel is what you want in midfield then why are you gutted about missing out on Dembele?

Tackle is the only thing we don't really have there. Fletcher takes care of that. Obviously he isn't there but I think all of us are hoping he makes a return.

Obviously Zenit don't consider Hulk to be 'black' then.

Apparently Porto rejected Zenit's offer of 50m and are holding out for closer to 60m Euro. That's fucking obscene. Quote:Dembele and Dempsey gone? What do they have left in the middle? Dempsey hasn't gone anywhere yet. They're still waiting for an offer for him. I'd laugh if it got to the end of the window and he'd burned all his bridges and nobody came for him. Reports coming from London that Theo Walcott has signed a 12-month contract extension which would scupper any move to Liverpool. QPR are in negotiations with Real Madrid for Esteban Granero while Joey Barton is having a physical at Marseille. City have agreed to a fee for Fiorentina's Matija Nastasic. Wayne Rooney has laughed off rumours linking him with a 40m move to Spain.

Matija Nastasic to City from Fiorentina for 12 M eur. and Stefan Savic swap, Chelsea offered 15M eur. for the Serbian central defender but Svaic swap more attractive for the Italians.

I can't say I've been paying close attention to Fiorentina, but I've never heard of Nastasic.

Pretty dog from him, he turned on Fulham because he thought Liverpool were keen but now he's practically going to another mid-table side. You're right, it would be funny to see him stuck at Fulham.

Fulham have accepted a bid from Sunderland - its just down to personal terms. Dempsey is allegedly waiting to see if Liverpool come in for him again, but either way feels he has to leave Fulham (not sure whether there is too much bad blood between him and the club as a result of the transfer request, or whether he's simply bored there).

Charlie Adam: Stoke make £5m bid for Liverpool midfielderRodgers when asked about Charlies future: "Charlie's a very good player. He'll be a pivotal part of the Scottish national team going forward. He's a terrific player with a good left foot, who will score goals and I'm sure he'll do very well for Scotland." Seems to me like this will definitely happen, would be good for both parties if it did. Edited by parraboi: 30/8/2012 03:49:09 PM

Anyone else hearing Maicon to City?
Few reports suggest it is done...

Liverpool have moved on from Dempsey and signed Assaidi and Sahin. No point in coming back for him again.

What a bargain. He's dropped off the last few years... Only 13 goals and 15 assists in his last 90 league apps. Should still do well.

How premier league clubs continue to bring in old rubbish goal keepers instead of picking up young Australian/American etc goalkeepers is beyond me. If Man City had of come in for Matty Ryan there is no way CCM would have stood in his way!
