Ballarat lost 0-1 to the Knights via a 77th minute penalty, as briefly reported by the Ballarat Courier under a large body of text about local Aussie rules reserves teams :(

Two big usets in this round with Port Melbourne once again edging out South Melbourne 2-1, while Pascoe Vale handed Premier League side Hume City a 5-0 hammering.

I'm rapt that MVFC & MHFC will be involved.

I'm just really grumpy today (ok grumpier than usual!) reaading people, who allege they are football fans, constantly whining and whinging about everything.

I'm incredibly grateful for where football is heading - at grassroots/participation level, at the professional club level, at the international level for both men & women - that I'm just sick of people, who only snipe at everything the FFA does or the National team does or the National Coach does.

How about we sit and be happy for a while & enjoy how good things are?

After waiting so many years for a professional domestic league I can support, waiting a couple of years for a national knock-out cup competition doesn't upset me the way it upset some of the kids on this forum.

Really great news, I hope it's true =d>
Maybe it'll be preliminary stages of an FFA/Australia Cup, but I hope it's a parallel comp for ALL Victorian clubs.

That should stop some of the whinging on this forum, although the whingers will probably find a new topic to whine about.

It looks like MVFC & MHFC will be part of this competition next season.

Just in on Twitter:

"I was with someone this morning reading the 2013 rules of the competition and the A League clubs were mentioned."

Florin Burhala (board member at MVFC) replied:
"Yes I understand very likely (meaning 99%, as you never know) they will be in next year."

That should stop some of the whinging on this forum, although the whingers will probably find a new topic to whine about.

Surprised there wasn't a thread here already :(

It's already up to the last 18.

FFV Cup Fixtures Confirmed

By Donald Sutherland

The Football Federation of Victoria has confirmed the details of the next round of FFV Cup matches, with 18 Victoria teams remaining in the state’s knockout competition.

Eight of the nine fixtures will kick off at the same time with the remaining fixture, Oakleigh Cannons v. Altona Magic, playing on Monday.

The big game of the round is between VIctorian Premier League (VPL) side South Melbourne and newly relgated Port Melbourne Sharks from State League One (SL1). The game kicks off, like many others, on Saturday 9th of June at 2pm.

The most lowly ranked side still in the competition are Old Camberwell Grammarians SC, who play their football in Provisional League Division 1.

All details of the round are listed below:

Dandenong City (SL1) v. Bentleigh Greens (VPL), 2pm, 9/5/2012, Frank Holohan Soccer Complex

Dandenong Thunder (VPL) v. Springvale White Eagles (SL1), 2pm, 9/5/2012, George Andrews Reserve

Pascoe Vale SC (SL1) v. Hume City FC (VPL), 2pm, 9/5/2012, Hosken Reserve

Green Gully SC (VPL) v. Keilor Park SC (SL2), 2pm, 9/5/2012, Keilor Park Recreation Reserve

South Melbourne FC (VPL) v. Port Melbourne Sharks SC (SL1), 2pm, 9/5/2012, Lakeside Stadium

Diamond Valley United SC (SL2) v. Heidelberg United SC (VPL), 2pm, 9/5/2012, Partingtons Flat

Morewell Pegasus (SL2) v. Old Camberwell Grammarians SC (Prov 1), 2pm, 9/5/2012, Ronald Reserve

Ballarat Red Devils SC (SL2) v. Melbourne Knights FC (VPL), 2pm, 9/5/2012, Trekardo Park

Oakleigh Cannons FC (VPL) v. Altona Magic SC (SL1), 4.30pm, 11/5/2012, Jack Edwards Reserve

All those dates are obviously the wrong month, the games are in June, not May.

Glad to see Ballarat and Morwell in there, and Morwell have the easiest ride against the Provvy 1 team. Wish I was back in Oz for Ballarat v Melb Knights =p~

For those that haven't noticed, it's not the Mirabella cup anymore, that deal must have been pulled after the FFA dicked them.
