Beatles Rocking: Hey bulldog While My Guitar gently Weeps Revolution Helter Skelter Everybody's got Something to Hide except for me and my monkey I Want you She so Heavy Get Back Ive Got a Feeling
Stones: Gimme Shelter Street Fighting Man Sympathy Paint it Black Jumping Jack Flash Brown Sugar Monkey Man
Both Bands did great rock songs. They also did a lot of great songs that are not on Greatest Hits compilations. (I gave my vote to the Beatles) Hard to pick looking at their albums. Beatles win for the early years but the stones kept it together longer 2 /Out of Our Heads vs Help/Rubber Soul (B) Revolver vs Aftermaths (B) Buttons /Satanic Majesties vs Sgt Peppers, (B) The White Album vs Beggar's Banquet, (?) Let it Bleed Vs Abbey Road, (?) Plastic Ono/All things Must Pass/Let it Be/McCartney vs Get Yer Ya Ya (B) Sticky Fingers vs Imagine/Ram (S) Exile vs Meh (S)

In all honesty, there is absolutely no comparison here. No one will ever or has ever come close to The Beatles.

The Beatles had the advantage of working with George Martin pioneering a lot of recording techniques like Multi-track recording, flanging, Sampling, controlled feedback and reversing tapes.

Beatles I enjoy some songs veryvery much how could you not - then again some of their solo stuff was so impressive as well, for me George H and Lennon were damn good but I have more likes for the Stones for I'm a rock band follower having grown up in the 70's therefore have many Stones albums etc followed by Sabbath Deep Purple etc Hendrix and the likes. Everyone has their pref in music, I didn't vote both were great ! but I have an admission - the only time I danced to Beatles music was because the girls got up on the dance floor ;) Edited by M.L.: 18/7/2012 10:28:35 AM

The stones began sucking after Brian jones died. Mick and Keith were great song writters but lacked the skill to put them together like Brian could.
The beatles were awesome but never really reached their awesomeness with all the infightig. Both bands are awesome and can't be split, but if you put a gun to my head I'd say Stones as long as you don't include any songs written and produced after 71.
If you include the entire catalogue then it's the Beatles. Abby road is the best Album by either band hands down.

You'd be an idiot... an idiot to say the Rolling Stones.
The Beatles are so much better it's ridiculous.
I'm surprised the Beatles are even compared to the Stones at all. The only guy that comes close is Elvis... but he's still not as good.

As myself in a metal band, it is extremely distinct that the beatles are such a HUGE influence. I even find it in my own compositions that not only in the guitars and drums but also the vocal arrangments. I don't mean the melody (Most of the time) but the rhythm. It's just very alike in so many ways :)

As far as I'm concerned, the Beatles wrote one of the first songs that came close to heavy metal. The first 'heavy metal' track released was Blue Cheer's Summertime Blues, released about 11-12 months earlier. But, Helter Skelter was an influential track for many metal bands, Tony Iommi has credited its influence on Black Sabbath's selftitled album.

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

Beatles had more hit songs, so if you're into that top 40 pop stuff then sure they're the greatest. Although Taylor Swift might overtake them one day.
The Stones had 4 albums in a row that individually or collectively were better, IMO, than anything the Beatles put out.

The Rollingstones had this amazing streak of amazing albums Let it bleed, Beggars Banquet, Sticky fingers (my fav) and exile on main street. I still maintain you wont find better rock n roll today that tops those albums.
The Beatles though were revolutionary in the studio and were doing things that no one else thought was possible with an album. and were far more influential on modern music today.
The Beatles are easily the better group.
