Ate something very similar at a roadhouse in Geelong yesterday. Worth it.

Anyone in here studied enough to answer me this:

I have a mate who eats 18 bananas every single day of his life. No exaggeration - 18. I keep telling him that 18 bananas a day surely can't be healthy for him in the long-term. Is there any dietary type people here that can clarify for me if he'll have any positive or negative effects from such a lifestyle?

For reference, he eats other foods too - strictly vegetarian. But I'm attempting to drill him on the bananas before worrying about anything else

The other for reference - the reason he eats so many bananas a day is he said he saw someone on youtube do it

Better than 7 meat pies in one day. My stomach is thanking me after yesterday.

That's a solid effort right there. Were they actual bakery quality meat pies, or Mrs Macs/4n20 rat coffins?

2 of them were quality bakeries, the other 5 were home made by my mum. The 2 from the bakery were from Oatley Pie Shop, best pie shop period ...big and chunky pies, and the ones by mum were small but wholesome.

As for Mrs Macs / 4n20 pies from the Servo, I would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. Its the worst food hangover or non hangover period.

I'm sure it has been asked before but why not do the rounds again, see if anyone thinks differently in their old age..

What is everyones kebab order?

Me personally, I can't look past Mixed, with all salads (inc cheese), and hot chilli sauce.

As I said in the Movies Thread, I watched the movie Chef and then went ahead and made the Cubanos from the film.

Man, they were so good!

Last week I for no apparent reason decided to make home-made rissoles for my first time. My additions to the normal recipe were onion, carrot, zucchini. They were pretty good - apart from the fact that I didn't trust/believe my sister when she said to put sauce in the actual mixture, so my rissoles turned out relatively bland without adding sauce on top. Next time I think I'll add some tomato paste in the mixture and see how that goes. I've also been told BBQ sauce + Worcesteshire (sp) sauce works a treat. Anyone got a good sauce to chuck in? Anyone done spicy rissoles, by chance, and remember the ingredients they put in?

they aren't rissoles, but i make spicy skinless sausages similar to cevapi.............

secret to a good sausage rissole is to grate the onion into the meat, add eggs to bind, salt pepper, paprika and chilli......also a drop or two of sesame oil.

AND you have to work the meat mix until it gets sticky.....this prevent them from falling apart in the pan

After weeks of hearing about Choripan on the AroundTheBloc podcast, I decided to make it last night. Basically I just used normal thick-cut sausages, a few dressing-related things, but I made chimichurri sauce from scratch - and it was amazing! I grabbed the chimichurri recipe from a random site, so don't know how it stacks up to authentic choripan, but I decided the sauce I made wasn't thick or spicy enough, so I'll be making a few minor adjustments for the next batch and I daresay I'll be making it for most times I eat meat from now on!

Food enthusiasts.

Is anyone here a vegan, or has previously been a vegan?

I has questions..

What is as a rough idea, the details of what you eat for your three meals a day?

Also, did you need vitamins/supplements? My brief google says Vitamin B12 is something any vegan should take.

Not trying to sound negative but this is a list i remember from my old PT course:

Protein
Calories in general to maintain weight
Fats mainly omega 3's
Vitamin b12
Iron
Electrolytes
Vitamin D
Calcium.

Like i said I'm not negative towards it and regularly eat vegetarian meals as well as do juice fasts. But they are sooner of the things i remember to keep an eye on.

The interest started out because a friend went vegan.

I then watched a doco called Cowspiracy on the sustainability of the meat & dairy industry and even when taking the figures with a grain of salt it's hard not to at least consider cutting back on meat and dairy.

So an internal and external conflict, I'm currently weighing up the pros and cons of my current meat & dairy intake.

Chances are I'll spend ages deliberating, make a decision, and then only casually restrict myself due to laziness

EDIT: but my current thoughts are I can't live without lamb, I just love lamb too much. And I eat enough things containing egg, plus I'm getting laying hens at home soon (which Cowspiracy showed to be just as much if not more unsustainable, but fxxx it) that I think I'll eat egg and the occasional lamb meal. But the other meats, and pretty much everything dairy, I can either live without or don't consume heaps of currently anyway. Cheese is probably the big dairy product I'd be missing, at a guess.

 don't get me wrong, I won't wanna be militant or anything like that. There's just a few points I watched in that doco I just can't not at least consider doing it.

Note sure if this will work, excuse the potential page stretch etc:
