I don't see why there should be any. If people have more than 6 in a team of 18 I'd be shocked.

So is everyone happy with their squads?
Who do you think is the favourite now going into the season?
Any players you surprised went when they did? Any players that weren't picked that you thought should have?

I think all the teams are interesting, going to be fun to see all the different formations come week one.

Next step, is I'll create a fixtures list so everyone knows who they are playing. 27 gameweeks means playing everyone 5 times + 2 extra. I'll sort it all out.

Squad selection, I don't think signing up and doing it on FoxSports is feasible so that removes that scenario. So what will happen is each week, before the first game starts, you need to send my your squad, starting eleven + 4 subs, and I will score everything then publish results and a ladder etc. If you don't submit a team, the last team you submitted will be used (so week one is very important!) but try to get into the habit of sending in a team because that way its up to date in case of omissions or injuries and it only takes 5 minutes sending me a message.

Trading period is now open (if people don't wish to have a trade period just say so). All trades must be 1:1 so swap one player for one player, two players for two players etc. If we do have a mini-draft om January, then it may be possible to trade picks but people need to decide if they want that, for now trading is just players. Remember, once you and another manager agree to a trade, post it here. Other managers will then have 48 hours to veto the trade if they think it is outrageous (and they make a case of why). Go nuts. :D

But on a more serious note, is anyone interested in Beauchamp? As I'm only gonna play 3 defenders, I'm thinking of getting rid of one to bring in another first choice mid/fwd...and Beauchamp is probably my only way of getting a decent replacement!

I'd veto any trade for Heskey, it's just unfair if someone's trading three players for him. Those three players could be the best in the league and they'd still not have as much production as Heskey.

I don't think anyone was ever proposing to trade me three players for Heskey, I think they were giving me a choice of one out of three

Doing up the fixtures now and just realised something: do we want finals or happy just having a h+a league?

Your idea is to have home and away fixtures during just the normal season and then have finals same time as actual finals? Yeah I'm not sure, sounds messy even with re-drafting.

With everyone playing each other 5 times, that can leave 2 rounds for finals during the normal season, so could have the top 4 in a knockout finals system. That would make everything work nicely. Would you all be happy with that?

Except in any situation where there may be postponements, there will be 5 games every round which will be weekly, with one mid-week fixture around New Year time, which makes it easy for us! Re Heskey - yeah sorry, I had about 2 hours sleep the other night so clearly missed the sarcasm haha.

Re Sanchez - I'll think about that one and get back to you! In the meantime, if anyone else has any offers for Beauchamp, let me know.

And also, are we planning to put up our teams up here each week? Think it would add a bit of spice to it and allow us to compare players and points while the games are actually on, which could be fun! Better than just waiting for the Monday each week to hear how we went - what do you guys think? Maybe if we send them all off like we originally planned to, and then they can all be uploaded at the same time just before kick-off of the first game each week?

We can just create our formations using this and upload the screenshot each week perhaps?

You can create your own formations for your team and publish it here but for scoring all I am going to do is have your 11 + 4 in a list.

Yeah, admittedly haven't put too much thought into it but I'd just assume people would send me via private message their weekly squads before the first game of the week on Friday. You can publish it here but then your opponent who may not have sent in their team could see it and plan theirs accordingly. Just depends tactically what you want to do but as long as I end up with everyone's teams then there's no problem how I get it.

Once matchday deadline has passed, I'll post all the squads up here in the thread, that way everyone can see who is playing.

Yeah that sounds great, if you just post them here once the deadline has passed - that way we have all the squads to see who's playing, without anyone getting an advantage by putting up their team late/early. So will the deadline be the kick-off time for the first game, or 5/10 mins before or what?

Kick off, to give people as much time as possible to put in their teams. So first week the deadline is 5 Oct @ 6:30pm

I like this idea actually - cause if we make it the kick-off of the first match, the teams with most players from the two teams in that first game will have an advantage, as they'll know exactly who the starting XI are for that game.

Also, what's the rule with subs? 1 per position, and if any of our first XI don't play, the sub's points count instead?

If the others are happy with 12pm on Fridays/first matchday then we'll use that as the deadline. That's 10am for us Westerners though.

It can be one for every position, or it can be like the FoxSports game, you have your GK sub then you list the other subs in a preferred order of appearing on the ground. So if you want a midfielder scoring for you at first emergency over a defender you can. Obviously this would be dependant on who you've got on the pitch. For example, say a defender on your team is out, you have a midfielder as first preference but you already have 5 midfielders playing, then the player as next in line as an emergency would be brought in.

How about 5pm AET/AEDT for all rounds (2pm AEDT for Rd26). That way there's plenty of time for people to send in teams on the Friday and for most weeks the first team's playing wont have their match lineups announced.

Fwiw, I don't really think it will be a big thing. It's not like the same 2 club open every round so who it would benefit varies and if you're leaving your selection to the last minute then you're cutting it fine and asking to be burned.

For reference, the link to the scoring system in the Rules post has been updated now that Fox have updated their rules. Browse over it if you are unsure how your team will get points. Also note that their will be bonus points this year, like the EPL game.

Oh an if people want to design their own kits, logo etc for their team, go nuts. Help make it feel like a real competition, or that the teams have some individuality to them. And gives us something to talk about in the meantime. :)
