Easy win Easy win? Hardly, you guys deserved it however losing up until the 60th then taking a lead of 2-1 in stoppage time before getting the third isn't easy. Our boys unfortunately look disinterested at times and the only way I see our season turning around is with some major changes. A couple of our bigger name players aren't performing and it seems they think they are untouchable. Hakoah next week won't be easy after their shock win but I still have confidence we can turn it around [-o<

Even when we conceded that goal we were still looking good Zonjic had young Figon in his pocket entire game. Now to smash Sydney Olympic on Sunday....

The top 5 is really starting to take shape, well top 4 really. I think it’s up for grabs with anyone for 5th position. My prediction was APIA to make it in the top 5, however they are very below par at the moment. And Olympic for relegation, boy would that be something, I remember a few years ago, when they laughed at us almost getting relegated (survived by a point on club championship)… Marconi already down, surely not Olympic too? lol

Including the FFA Cup that's now 6 wins on the bounce, 5 clean sheets and now top of the league thanks to Hakoah beating Blacktown. Debut goal for Uskok as well
Edited by sydneycroatia58: 16/4/2016 09:17:04 PM Something, Something Mark Rudan hate. He deserved it  and I still won't be convinced until a consistent season is put together. We started off great last season as well. exactly, last season we won the pre-season cup, and our season went down ever since. there has been some several changes from last season that I can see. 1. Our defence is a lot more solid, I think now that's 5 clean sheets in a row, (best defence in the league) I think Yanni with Manos(GK) has been our best signings this season. 2. Pani nikas is on fire, last season he was out for a good 6 weeks, and never got back to his best. this season he has been immence from day one. 3. Stava is back, after we lost him from the head knock last season, we never recovered, he is a gun in that DM position, he makes up so much ground and does the dirty work for the side. 4. Finally we got ourselves a striker, all season last year we never had a ST, now we got Christ Payne, and he has already bagged 6 or so goals. Bring on Parramatta this weekend

As for the Melita game we played 4 injured players that started who werent 100 per cent fit Theres players who are injured and need a few week rest
The Melita game everything was looking good we hit the lead on the 60 min We were dominating and looked like a easy win for us
All of a sudden we went to sleep and copped 6 corners in a minute and 3 goals in 15 minutes
Too many players starting every week injured and Lee starting them
We have missed lots of chances in every game we have played so far
Ref costed us the game against Blacktown We should of won that game We had 2 clear penalties disallowed A blacktown player already on a yellow and 5 minutes later should of given him a red but refuses to send him off
We should of won that game
Blacktown have 5 shots at goal score 4 goals
We miss several clear chances and score 2 goals
As for the Melita game they dominate for 15 minutes and score 3 goals
Lots of missed chances and bad ref decisions so far
Our luck will chance

That's last weeks club championship.
It would be crazy to see APIA or Sydney Olympic go down to NPL2. Two giants of Australian football in the space of 2 years?

Manly United. Nobody really talks about them very often, but they seem to just stroll along and usually finish pretty decent each year in the NPL and club championship. I remember reading a while back they're pretty much non-profit. They must have some decent youth programs.

You are sure right on your points.
1.Pani to be honest at sutherland and no disrespect he was lazy player at united he was given kick up the ass and is perfroming 2.Stava coming back from his injury and that year off has only done wonders . Strength in the midfield 3.Defence has improved and stopping of leaking of goals compared to last season. 4.Payne has peformed Payne and is all muscle compared to Glavas. 5. The way the next 3 matches are for us is parramatta at home / APIA away / the another game at home is with AVALA ( from what the website says). 6. After working a 50 hour week and watching them play on the weekend is a pleasure reminds me of the NSL days...

I'll disagree on point 1. I dont think Pani was that poor or lazy last season, he was used as a scapegoat by fans when our problems ran much deeper than him. He missed most of pre-season due to a foot injury and started off a bit slower than expected, but he had started turning in performances when our season started going downhill. People forget his MOM performance at home when he destroyed Sydney Olympic. A couple of weeks later Pasfield was out injured and we lost a match we never shouldve lost against Manly and people turned on Pani for some reason. From there on in, any mistake he made was magnified while people happily turned a blind eye to anything he did well.
I'm not saying he had a fantastic year, far from it. But he wasn't our worst player last season either. Our problems started when we lost Stava and when we inexplicably signed Makrys and Giannaros.
The 'lazy' tag he seemed to cop is off the mark too. He was brought in for his work in the final third, I doubt Rudan ever told him to up his work rate and I wouldnt expect him to. You dont bring in a player like him and tell him to waste his energy tracking back too much. The big difference between last year and this year in that respect is that we no longer have two luxury players in the middle - Nikas and C Triantis. Now it's just Nikas and he's covered by P Triantis and Stav. His workrate hasn't increased, the balance in our starting 11 has changed.

Defensively we have improved, but there's a long way to go. Manos pulled off a minor miracle in the second half against Rockdale and followed that up with some fantastic saves against Olympic. For about 20 minutes in the first half against Olympic they seemed to be able to get in behind us at will. The defense is much better than last year but that was never going to be difficult to achieve.
It'll be interesting to see if Rudes slots Uskok in at CB and pushes Yianni into right back once he's back from suspension.

Lost 3-2 to Blacktown in the first game of the season, then won 5 in a row. In the 16 games after that we won 4, lost 11 and drew 1. Second half of the season was especially bad with 9 losses in 11 games. See if we can put a consistent season together this year.

It amazes me how people ignore the fact that the association clubs like Manly, Sharks and Spartans have it easier than the rest. All very simple for them, they know there is a pool of funds coming in every year from thousands of kids in their association. No need to stress or worry themselves about obtaining sponsorship or other revenue raising exercises the clubs undertake.

Although there is a good relationship between the two, no revenue is given to the club by the association. We are lucky in the sense the local youth really has only one club to choose when playing youth league. Edited by sutherlandfan: 19/4/2016 12:34:50 PM

Not sure what "non-profit" even means. All clubs in the league would be considered not-for-profit organisations. Does he mean low budget?
