N.B figures include regional rounds
In Fairness - the Wellington game should be capped at 7k due to the VPL GF for season 3 which would bring the average down to 6,092 Free tickets????____>>>>____????

Fucking hell.
So when South Melbourne was going through these halcyon days of 6 or 7,000 crowds, they:
*Had been around for how many years? 50? *Had a natural support base - the Greek club in a city with lots of Greek immigrants, *Had won championships and were playting finals.
While Heart have: *existed for 2 and a bit years, *Are building a supporter base from nothing, *Haven't even played a home final yet, *Are in a market that was catered for by one club prior to their existence.
Good luck to South Melbourne. But people are living in absolute fantasy land if they think they could get decent crowds in this league. Even with sustained finals appearances, why would anyone think they could do any better than before? Heart crowds show modest improvement over the time we've been around, and have much more potential for improvement. Wait until we actually start winning games at home.

ive never been your biggest fan chris but youve got my support this time buddy. the heart experiment has been a failure and its kinda obvious the heart have no real fan base and has always been just an alternative the few victory fans that just wanted to try something different
if smfc were in the a-league their attendances would double that of the heart - not to mention they are a far more professionally run and organized club

beautiful quote from"Southampton Till I Die on MVFC Forum. Quote:It`s magic following the Heart
1) You don`t have to line up for beer (Ever) 2) You can sit where ever you like 3) You can hear everything the players say and they can here you 4) There`s plenty of room on the tram after the game

NUFCMVFC MVFC Forum wrote:Fact is, Heart is an FFA Franchise lumped on Melbourne by people up on Sydney, Sidwell wanted it because he couldn't buy into MVFC (had his chance to buy the FFA's stake but didn't take it so no sympathy from me), but that's about it, no one from the Melburnian community was exactly calling out for this and there was no groundswell demand for a Franchise which is nothing more than a colour differentiation from MVFC. Succinct and generally accepted view on MVFC Forum.

IN Season two Melbourne Victory averaged 27,728 per game.
In 2011/12 season Melbourne Victory's average without the Derby 19,134(229,607@12games) and Heart's without the Derby is 6180 (74,216@12games).
Is Melbourne Heart driving the game backwards?

If Heart's only job is to be in the A-League and piss off all the SMFC supporters, then it looks like they're doing a good job.

Heart are an abomination. But that's not an argument to replace them with a club that struggles to get people to its VPL fixtures.
The above view on Heart from the MV forum is accurate. Everything about Heart is simply about being the antithesis to Victory. No real movement existed for a new club to be created, other than the boardroom desires of people like Sidwell.

now do it for SMFC There is no directly comparable data. Put SMFC in the A-League and have them play the same opposition, the same derbies, and with the same media coverage, then I could put up the data you desire. Again, I'm on the fence here - I want South in the A-League but I have no desire to see any A-League franchise fail.
