It's really triggering for me in the sense that it brings up very strong feelings of depression and hopelessness, and causes me to engage in harmful things to cope with said feelings and some unpleasant memories that go along with them. So yeah, ermagerd patriarchy, plz tag all the things so that you can never ever risk upsetting a 12 year old demi-queer, poly-sexual otherkin social justice warrior who uses tree/treeself pronouns.

Binca O'Brien, her son Jude, and Chris Noble whose bodies have been pulled from the rubble of the shop explosion in Rozelle yesterday. Must say it's hit the Balmain/Rozelle peninsula hard.

Richard Kiel , not Eduard Khil (aka the trololo man) has passed on today He defined the role of henchman in a movie A henchman is never the main bad guy in a movie, hes got a job to do, hes not particularly smart or resourceful, and hes a one dimensional character who only had 1 job to do And that was to Stop James Bond

 "I believe that's Mr Gilmores!"
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

I know him better as Jaws from the Bond movies KiwiChick1 wrote:RIP :( Honestly, all of this talk about his suicide being everywhere is actually really triggering :? . I can relate to that. Soon as I heard how he died, I noticed that my mind drifted to that state of thought a little bit more regularly than it has for a long time. I couldn't believe the news when I heard he took his own life.

Yeah was about to post that, just tragic. I knew a few people going to the show today, really feel sorry for anyone who had to witness it. Apparently she didn't meet the height requirements for the ride and in an interview the person that was behind her on the ride said she heard the guy say 'it's not clicking in properly'. Truly heartbreaking.
RIP

MELBOURNE’S most loved player, Robert Flower, has passed away. He was 59. Known affectionately as “Tulip’’, Flower was the champion of Melbourne through the 1980s and captained the club from 1981 until his final game in 1987. Melbourne officials were told the sudden passing late on Thursday night. What’s your favourite memory of Tulip? Leave your tribute below “It is with the deepest regret that we wish to advise of the sudden passing of Robert Flower, after a brief, unexpected illness,” a Flower family statement said. “The family is devastated by the sudden loss and would appreciate privacy at this time.” He played 272 games for the Demons and was widely recognised for his sublime skill on the wing. He was much loved by Melbourne fans and greatly admired by all football supporters. He was a member of the club’s team of the century, rightly filling the position on the wing. In 1999, Flower was voted on a wing in the AFL Players Association best team of the previous 25 years. Flower held the club games record until overtaken by David Neitz in 2006. Over his career he played in just 88 wins, and 184 losses. Ron Barassi and Robert Flower walk onto the MCG. Ron Barassi and Robert Flower walk onto the MCG. Source: News Limited The Melbourne Football Club released a statement, describing Flower as a “favourite son”. “The club offers its deepest sympathies to Rob’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time,” they stated. “Rob captured the hearts of every Melbourne supporter and was a much-loved favourite son. “One of the club’s greatest players – and one of the all-time greats – Flower played 272 matches and kicked 315 goals for Melbourne from 1973-87. He also captained the club from 1981-87. “A brilliantly skillful and majestic wingman, Flower also played across half-back and half-forward in a decorated career. “Universally admired in the game, Flower’s legacy will always remain strong at the Melbourne Football Club and the AFL community.” ROBERT FLOWER Born: August 5, 1955 Died: October 2, 2014 Club: Melbourne Recruited from: Murrumbeena Career: 1973-87 Height: 182cm. Gough did more than all other australian prime ministers combined He did more in 3 short years than every other politician in Australia has done in 111. polls on any of his reforms when they are available are overwhelmingly popular
universal sewerage universal healthcare universal kindy universal legal aid universal access to higher education abolishing the death penalty abolishing the draft abolishing (to a degree) institutionalized discrimination aboriginal land rights withdrawing from vietnam making 18 the voting age
Yet the paradox of whitlam is that liberals who strongly support his reforms still tend to list him as one of the worst prime ministers when polled. The fact that his legacy uncontroversially benefits his critics only makes his star shine brighter in my eyes. The fact that he is not universally thanked makes his service to Australia all the more selfless. It is a nice contrast to the power hungry self serving stereotype of most politicians. Whenever I talk to my American friends about our system they so often drool with envy. Paradoxically this is often true of republicans and democrats alike. This system is almost exclusively Gough's legacy. Gough Whitlam made it possible to be a morally satisfied patriot in Australia
