As the replies and views on this thread show, there is genuine interest in keeping tabs. It doesn't occur to you that people only come here to mock you and your obsession with discussing AFL on a football forum? No, that thought has never occurred to me. I'm hurt by that thought.

I'm predicting a slow down in membership numbers once cat breeding season comes to a close.

Why is it of any interest to anyone including you that GWS have sold 39 memberships since yesterday? Either keep your reporting of this to a reasonable time frame, I think weekly updates is a more than reasonable request or post it in the AFL thread.

Joffa it at least gives posters an opportunity to put up quick-witted original posts about pet memberships, which appear to be enjoyed by a significant 442 constituency. Why deny some their fun? Not a whole lot of traffic in the GWS forum on BigFooty so this is some extra attention. I say keep up the good work. We're all interested.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

GWS has now surpassed last year's membership figure of 10,241, still four weeks to go till the start of the football season: http://membership.gwsgiants.com.au/

Wow that is a 1,000 more than that other thriving expansion club known as the GCS. It was great to see them out in force for the first NAB cup games against Sydney and Carlton, singing and providing an electric atmosphere. Maybe they could allow the GCS to sell 3 game memberships in Cairns or something to help boost those numbers, too many high rise buildings for pet memberships. Full marks to afro for at least introducing a new pet to the discussion.
Justafan - that was a bit lame, lift your act.

The whole idea of including pet memberships in that number is absolutely absurd. I don't care which team Fido goes for, there's absolutely NO chance of him going to a game.

I'm thinking this thread has just about run its course and Mr Football's updates would be better served in the AFL thread, anyone disagree?

How do you know pet memberships are included? The AFL does not count them in their end of season tallies. People need to get over it - things like pet memberships and birth certificates in club colours, etc are just forms of merchandising, nothing more, nothing less. Like selling a scarf or coffee mug or whatever.

Justafan - that was a bit lame, lift your act. GWS props up membership by servicing 2 areas on cheap memberships, amongst other strategies. This is what I call lame. I await to see all these members pack into Skoda Stadium during the season, it will be a wonderful sight.

With numbers now at 10,302, well on the way to getting around 12,000 for the season, it's well understood that around one third, or 4,000, will be 3 game Canberra members, plus there could be up to 1,000 long distance members, leaving 7,000 or so members from the Sydney metropolitan region, and that would be pretty close to their core support at the moment. They are quite small numbers, so it's no big deal - you could scarcely view them as exaggerated numbers.
