You mean the AFL won't allow it - b/c as things currently stand, that's the status. The AFL apparently amended its Constitution in the early '00s(shortly after Carlton SC went belly-up), to prohibit its clubs from fielding sides representing them in other sports.

Which is pretty ironclad proof of how dictatorial that sporting body is if you ask me.

IMO the only person in Oz football who I can safely bet would be vehemently opposed to this idea would be Fozzie; he'd no doubt see it as a Pyrrhic victory of sorts for Aussie Rules should it happen.

As I say, the FFA have blocked moves into other sports already - more to the point, just as the AFL owns all intellectual property of the AFL members, the FFA owns all of it for the A-league members. Collingwood, for example, wouldn't be allowed into the A-league even if the AFL allowed them to apply, because the FFA wouldn't be able to control the trade marks, and therefore the merchandising.
