By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Carlos Hernandez signs for @WgtnPhoenixFC great signing there. Left a great name here in Indian football.

http://feverpitch.in/SiteWeb/Newsdesc.aspx?SID=87B9F4CE-785E-4217-B9EB-08BE5D7888B4

After returning to his home from Kolkata, Prayag United’s Costa Rican midfielder, Carlos Hernandez has remained unreachable.

The World Cupper headed to his native town after he got the news of his father's demise, about a month ago. Since then, the Costa Rican has gone unreachable, with the club officials failing to establish any sort of contact with him.

Even the source through which United SC had signed Hernandez doesn't have any knowledge about his whereabouts. Carlos was even sent a mail by the club for further information, but to no avail.

As a result, the club finally decided to take some concrete steps and sent Carlos an e-mail warning him about the consequences he might have to face in case he fails to comply by the club guidelines. The mail stated that Carlos needs to join the club by 2nd February, failing which might end him coughing up a huge fine.

United SC official Nawab Bhattacharya said, "Carlos is behaving like an unprofessional player. We haven’t had any contact with him for almost a month. He is receiving his salary, but at this moment of crisis, when the team needs him the most, we fail to get his service. If he doesn't return by Saturday, we will take the necessary actions."

Carlos is known for his improper conduct, having a history of bad behaviour with the managers of the former clubs. He last played for Wellington Phoenix in the Australian "A" League, where he left due to some problems with the coach. The player even had a fallout with the Dutch coach, Eelco Schattorie, following which he was dropped and only drafted back after an apology.

In an interesting twist to the story, Wellington Phoenix, Carlos’ previous club, has offered Prayag United a transfer fee worth Rs.11 lakh for the Costa Rican, but Prayag seem to be disinterested in taking the deal further.

According to sources close to the club, the Prayag officials smell a conspiracy, with Carlos wanting to create a state of commotion among the officials so that they get fed up with his attitude and sudden disappearance and agree a deal with Wellington, believed to be his preferred destination.

The story falls nothing short of a bollywood thriller directed by the duo of Abbas-Mustan. Now one needs to wait till Saturday to watch the proceeding pan out and see whether Hernandez shows up or there is more to it? Is there another twist in the tale?

I'm glad my source came good for me this time. I think having Carlos back in the A League is a good thing. I hear he is in pretty good shape and is eager to come back and make an impact. Looking forward to his scorching goals and classy touches.
