Hello. My name is David, I am new to this forum.
I've been browsing for a couple of months now, ever since I discovered the magazine, (really good read editors) about a year ago when my family moved here to Sydney from Tel Aviv about a year ago. We now reside in the beautiful Eastern Suburbs.
I am supporting Sydney FC in the A-League. I think they're a fantastic team, with some excellent support, and a beautiful stadium to match. We have Alessandro Del Piero which is exciting. I remember watching him on the television back in Israel. Exciting to see him live.
I am also a passionate supporter of Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C.and have attended many matches at Bloomfield Stadium who we share with Hapoel.
I find A-League is on par with Israeli Premier League, but Israeli Premier League probably better because of higher European influence.
My father also supports Ajax in Netherlands. I like them too. In England I like Liverpool.
I have attended 2 Sydney derbys, and find they are not as exciting or colorful as the Big Tel Aviv Derby. Father has called Parramatta the Palestine of Israel. I found that most amusing.
I hope to learn more about Australian football on this website. I have noticed you send a lot of young players to Europe. I don't think any Australians play in Israel. Soon maybe. No Israelis have played in Australia yet, either. Soon maybe too.
Shalom, David. :)

Eastern Glory wrote:Welcome David. What were your thoughts on Shannon Cole he played in Israel? Hello. You seem nicer than those who take me for some Palestinian infiltrator. I know little about Shannon Cole, other than he plays for the number 2 club in Sydney. I know he used to play for Sydney FC before changing sides. I read on his wikipedia he did spend some time at Maccabi Netanya as a youth. Netanya play in same colours as Centeral Coast Marinators here in Sydney. They are an OK team. He says on his wikipedia he liked Israel (it is a very lovely country and I encourage you to visit) but foreign players find Israel difficult because of the Visa restrictions. Only 5 non-pure blood players are allowed to play in a team. If you are Jewish foreigner it is better for you, but unless you are foreigner and manage to acquire Israeli citizenship (which is promoted) you are on the outer. Cole also played for Netanya when they played in the second level. Foreign players are frowned upon below Israeli Premier League, as you are taking spots from local pure blood players. Netanya spend a lot of time between levels. I see A-League has similar rule, only 5 non pure bloods allowed. This is good, I think. It gives true blood players more of a opportunity to make it. In my opinion, this is where country like England are failing. Shalom, David. :)

Hello Israeli_Pride67,
We used to have Hakoah who became Sydney City a jewish backed team who were very successful, they recieved very little crowd support though...
On another note, the socceroos played Israel on many occasions (always tough battles)for WC quaification pity they now have separate pathways...

Hey guys, I'm a regular reader of 442 but it's my first time here. I'm a lover of good football (and I get lots of it at Old Trafford). I just completed my first degree in Europe and have been admitted for M.Sc. in Melbourne Australia so I'm coming in few weeks to join you guys. I will be in Sydney for United’s pre-season game with A-League All Stars at ANZ Stadium on July 20. I'm looking out for cheap student's hotels/hostels in Sydney to stay for 2days (will be coming a day before the game), someone recommended this http://www.trivago.com/sydney-44310/hotel but I would be glad to use more options. How are live games like in this stadium?

Haven't bee so can't really comment, anyone else want to agree/disagree?

Ironically, I quite like sitting up in the heavens right up the top, the view IMO is better than sitting behind the goals.
WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

@ Benjo & Heineken: Really? Hope the coming of the champions would bring a little difference. I read that lots of fans are grabbing the tickets ''Australian football fans have snapped up tickets to see Manchester United and Liverpool this summer play in their country this summer''. Let's hope for an awesome footballing event.

Hi guys! I'm sydneyboys! I've been on a few other football forums, but this one had the most character I thought, and the cleanest language too. I'm 29 and gay but have no partner at the moment. I work for an event management company in Surrey Hills and I live in Bella Vista. I got into football due to just how attractive and classy the men are despite being hardworking, professional athletes. I generally don't like Melbourne fans on the Internet, they just come across as juvenile, crass and unintelligent. That said, I'm quite open to changing my mind about some of them, however I've already made my mind up about a few specific members of this forum.
My goal for football would be to see a Sydney Derby sell out and have everyone chanting together as opposed to the petty squabbling that goes on. In the end, we all live in the best city in the world, so as long as your not trash, we should celebrate that and chant together as we watch our teams collide in a graceful duel.

Hi all,
Thought I'd introduce myself finally. I am notatroll and I am not a troll. I originally started this account to troll but decided not to lower myself to that.
I am a Wanderers fan, but I love football in general. I am actually quite level headed, so don't expect a biased Wanderers fan here. I never supported Sydney FC for the record, I respect everything they have done, but I could never connect from out here in Sydney's west.
I am finishing off a media degree and have done freelance work in a variety of fields (sport, music, technology, gaming, cars) and enjoy writing for a living. I am also doing a Bach of Psychology just out of sheer interest.
I've been lurking on here for a while but I definitely enjoy the read, the serious discussions on Extra Time and the laughs on show on AF.
And go the Socceroos Tonight! 3rd Qualification straight (hopefully!)
Cheers all :)

Hello everyone, I have posted on this 442 for a while, just never this section.
Anyway to introduce myself, I am a roar and arsenal fan, I live in Brisbane and go to Uq, where I study mechanical engineering. I am meant to be finishing in a few weeks but a douche-nozzle of a lecturer is keeping me here for another semester.
I find myself on this section because I literally just don't want to do any of the massive amount of work (thesis +3 assignments) i have due in the next week and 1 day.
rant over, thanks for the entertaining topics that have fueled my procrastination!
