Had about 62k last year by round 1 and sold another 11.5k after that (73.5k total). So a 27% jump so far on last year by R1 with 16 days still to go. I don't think we'll see a 27% jump in attendance, i think this is more to do with the Wanderers providing 75% of the gains which leave the rest of the league 6% up by R1. Which is still an achievement IMO.

As a league, we've been tracking about 415 a day (for the last fortnight) so if we continue hopefully we can hit 85,000 by round 1. From there, i don't think its inconceivable to hit 100k with 15k other memberships after since we sold about 11.5k last year.

Nice estimates Schultzy and agreed with you and Joffa - that seems fairly accurate - somewhere between 85-90k very possible, just maybe some slight adjustments on the figures, club to club perhaps, but the overall total quite achievable!

And impressive? The figures are ALREADY 'collectively' impressive as we've discussed, but yeah, the fact there's still room to grow, especially from the markets which have traditionally been stragglers, that's REALLY fantastic!

YEah, it's mostly Wanderers, but not ALL ofcourse - everyone has seen gains, though Wanderers can take their share of 'indirect' credit for that too, perhaps - ESPECIALLY with Sydney FC's growth? hehe

But yeah, one can easily argue that the Wanderers 'growth' is more, forget the phrase, just making up the difference of base or however to describe it, just with a little more ontop to capacity on the back of their success. One could've easily projected they'd have a member base of 10-12k, even during last season!

So indeed, we probably won't see 'gains' like this, next season, but hopefully thse figures sustain and incrementally build the next couple seasons. It'd be unfortunate to see a dip - though potentially Sydney FC may do so, once ADP leaves? And who knows how long the 'Jets Project/Experiment' may last, especially if/when Tinkler up and leaves? That's a scenario which clearly needs on-going monitoring. If the Jets need emergency assistance from the FFA in the future, then that may also slow plans on future expansion - less they can find a new, good, owner ASAP. Hopefully that will not need to be the case though!

if we had 62k last year by round 1 then the rest look to have grown by about 13k members though exact amount remains to be seen

that means a 20% rise in attendances for every team except wanderers who should get a 50% rise in attendances
my attendance prediction (wrong thread I know but its based on memberships)
12.3k+2.5k+300 (wanderers)
15.1 k

which would be unbeleivable. If we don't embarrass ourselves at the world cup or the asian cup that could grow by 30% very quickly...

Sydney FC are barnstorming it! They seem set to reach their goal of 10k, easily within Round 1! Excellent work!

Wow, how? I guess the Mariners are barnstorming their finish too? Less than a hundred from reaching their goal?!

BTW Been meaning to ask, how on earth is the Heart counter so active, up-to-date? It ticks over seemingly every thirty minutes or even sooner? It's almost as if all you need to do is click 'refresh' and another member or two is added to the tally?! Puts the others to shame, but same time, they must have a different arrangement, set up?

2013/14 Membership Sales

As of 27 September 2013 15:52:59

Adelaide - 4,335 /10,000
Brisbane - 5,653 /10,000
Central Coast - 4,911 /5,000

Sydney - 9,413 /10,000
Victory - 19,028 /23,000
Wellington - 3,000 /4,000
West Sydney - 15,600 /SOLD OUT!

Total memberships sold - 79,577 /99,500

*Notes - Clearly Adelaide and even Brisbane are on the 'un-realistic' side of things with their goals. AU tracking surely around 5k come season start, and Roar probably 6.5k. And during season add another thousand to both. So if you reduce AU's goal to 7k and Brisbane's to 8k, then the 'total goal' would be around 95k, so a bit more closer to realistic.

Also, Newcastle have NOT updated us in yonks. That 8k figure was a good while ago. You can comfortably presume they have another 500 members, atleast, by now. Perth and even Wellington too, may have collectively another few hundred to add to the mix too? So the 'real, current total' would definitely be atleast a thousand more than what we have tallied at the moment.

MH's figures really have slowed up considerably.

The few boots have come around new signings, but there appears to be no big boost as we head towards round 1. Maybe next week when the AFL overhype is done and dusted for another year we may get more traction.

The following record lowest crowds per club exclude regional games and fixtures hosted outside regular venue:

Adelaide - 5,898 - PG, Mar 2012 Members -
Brisbane - 5,051 - Suncorp PG, Oct 2010 Members ^
Central Coast - 4,644 - Roar, Sep 2006 Members ^
Heart - 3,667 - Mariners, Feb 2011 Members ^
Newcastle - 4,329 - Phoenix, Nov 2009 Members ^^
Perth - 4433 - Phoenix, Sep, 2008 Members ^ surely
Sydney - 8,502 - Roar, Nov 2008 (Not THE lowest, but fairly representative figure of 'low' crowd at SFS) Members ^
Victory - 8,287 - GCU, Jan 2011 Members ^^
Wellington - 4,115 - Westpac, Jets, Nov 2009 Members -
West Sydney - 6,755 - Roar, Dec 12 Members ^^

The ^^ are for those clubs with member numbers well beyond their record lowest A-League crowds at their main venue/s.

Just to think, some of these member numbers are already as high as some of the 'minimum' crowd numbers during some of the A-League's leaner seasons?

That's the good thing about memberships and building that base. Guaranteed, pre-committed, income I guess. As some have discussed, you can have such and such number of members, say 10k, but clearly not all 10k are going to turn up every game. Even if a paltry mid-week crowd hosting Phoenix or what not, if that only draws 8-9k, the club is still a bit better off than if that club only had 5-6k members and drew 8-9k?

It can only be a good thing growing these bases, hopefully it leads to wider, slowly sustained/maintained, growth. But either way, it may also see the 'minimum numbers' or 'crowds' that bit higher than previous years. The premier fixtures will usually draw strong crowds, but it's the lower drawing fixtures - you are only as strong as your weakest links. You raise the minimum and the overall whole increases.

If you look at the NSW clubs and Brisbane the issue is still there except for WSW. Membership sales are about half of the average attendance and with the average attendance, capacity of their venue is not challenged. This was the case with NRL membership sales in those two states but over the last 5 years it has changed in all clubs but with varying degrees of success. A few have reached the point where there are more members than the average attendance while for others it is still well below average attendance. The culture is changing slowly.

It is still not a Sydney thing, membership, it is slowly changing. I don't think WSW membership would be as high if they had a bigger ground, so having a smaller ground has been great for them in their quest for membership. In this way the only sure way of getting to the big games is to become a member. Whereras with Sydney apart from GF, they will not fill the SFS.
