No word from Iridium1010 either, it seems? Our CEO and Iridium1010 as as bad as each other, it seems! ;) :p But honestly yeah, annoying, though still have no idea WHO suggested the CEO had an announcement to make on this? I checked through his Twitter and I can't see where he said he had an announcement on this due yesterday? :-s *Scratches Head* But he SHOULD - Glory SURELY have 5k or more members by now, given that figure Joffa uses is from a good month ago now: https://twitter.com/PGFC_CEO/status/379441775040929792He promised a signed match ball though - so they will surely make a bit of an announcement/'Hoo-Ha!' about it across their Social Media, when they do! ;) MrBrisbane wrote:Got a Members Email, All about the game this weekend, ffs how hard is it to say the Members total. FARK! While it can be frustrating, we can grant Roar 'some' leeway for the moment, given their last update was quite recent, the 6,105 figure only being announced October 4. We know Roar tend to announce their figure at every 'thousandth' mark, given the 'reward' for the lucky member who's the one to take them to that milestone ('10kfor10k'). This is, relatively, all alot better than Glory - Over West we're holding up the arse end, no doubt! The A-League's tail still drags a bit, Glory doing their bit! :p  Schultzy wrote:Wellington the only team to go below 5k this year? Schultzy - I hope you aren't being harsh on Wellington? The mark they have now hit (Announced on FB, reflected in Joffa's update, is now a new club record. They are also only 500 short of hitting 'their target' of 4k. That's another nice sub-achievement, as part of the wider narrative of achievement reflected almost ENTIRELY across the board. Every club is 'UP' in their numbers, most have either hit or are about to hit, new record levels of memberships! AND atleast 2-3 clubs have now, ALREADY, reached their stated member targets or goals, which were naturally, again, targets which were exceeding their previous highs! I'm going to make a post now, to reflect just how well the clubs are tracking, according to a number of parameters I've concocted. It's nothing but good news, as far as I'm concerned, but hopefully this isn't a one-off anomaly, but it's 'just the start' of a slow and steady trajectory of growth for the league, over the next couple seasons, followed by further consolidation in the marketplace! robbos wrote:Yes Derbies are the way to go hence maybe 3rd Melbourne or 3rd Sydney team could be the surprise next couple of teams in the A-League. Both Perth & Adelaide would need to show there is a need for a 2nd team in those cities. Brisbane or Queensland is a shoe in, but where, as Gold Coast has failed, do we try again? Robbos - Ipswich is almost a no-brainer. It = Mini-Wanderers-like territory for Brisbane. If you look into it, the history of football there etc... it's even more impressive, let alone what's on offer today - a fast growing region, centralised on the Ipswich satelite CBD and a well located venue, right next to the station. With the A-League now under way, I'd like to post a kind of progress report, according to a variety of parameters that I've posted about earlier: ~ Record lowest crowds per club compared to present member levels per club (excludes regional games and fixtures hosted outside regular venue): As of 11 October 2013Adelaide - 5,898 - PG, Mar 2012 Members -Brisbane - 5,051 - Suncorp PG, Oct 2010 Members ^Central Coast - 4,644 - Roar, Sep 2006 Members ^Heart - 3,667 - Mariners, Feb 2011 Members ^Newcastle - 4,329 - Phoenix, Nov 2009 Members ^^Perth - 4433 - Phoenix, Sep, 2008 Members ^ surely Sydney - 8,502 - Roar, Nov 2008 (Not THE lowest, but fairly representative figure of 'low' crowd at SFS) Members ^Victory - 8,287 - GCU, Jan 2011 Members ^^Wellington - 4,115 - Westpac, Jets, Nov 2009 Members \/West Sydney - 6,755 - Roar, Dec 12 Members ^^* ^^ Just denotes membership figure far higher than lowest recorded attendance, which is a '^ ^' worthy achievement. ;) :p ~ 2013/14 Membership Sales: Tracking to Club RecordsAs of 11 October 2013Adelaide - 5,751 > 5,500 11/12 Brisbane - 6,105 - 6,500 12/13 Central Coast - 5,448 > 3,600 11/12 Heart - 5,909 - 6,583 12/13 Newcastle - 9000 < 11,000 12/13 Perth - 4,394 - 5,000ish Sydney - 10,000 > 8,000 12/13 Victory - 20,505 > 18,767 Wellington - 3,500 > New Club Record! West Sydney - 15,841 WAIT LIST! > ~6,500 12/13 Total memberships sold - 86,453 > Previous A-League records, already, no doubt, by any measure. * Newcastle being down on their 'record' is not a 'down note' - They still have an impressive number of members and as some Jets fans here notice, it will only re-grow once again, once results turn around and/or GVE departs. They're probably right now more focused on gettign 15k+ at nib, they've got a really good chance to get people down and Ali Edwards playing some good football, getting them to stay loyal and enjoy their football this season could end up with ~11k which would be a fantastic result. They've got all the tools now, a brand new perfect capacity stadium, good loyal member base, solid active support, plenty of kids coming through with some good initiatives to get them staying, some great fixtures all things considered, a squad capable of challenging and a coach that knows what he's doing and playing lots of young West Aussies.

Nps Iridium, thanks for clarifying with us. For the record is was kidding/joshing you a bit there. Glory's new CEO is still a breath of fresh air from even the recent past and JUST the very fact we ARE/have received this info and communication from him via Social Media, is a mini-revolution in itself, compared again, to 'past practice'.... http://leopoldmethod.com.au/lets-take-a-look-at-these-numbers-more-closely-2/An interesting article and worth the read. Key point to take from this article is it suggests memberships were up 12% to 70,000. If that is in fact correct then wow, what a jump we have seen this year even without the wanderers. This article was written in January this year, and so you'd expect this season we would be around about 90,000 members by then, a 30% rise, or 10,000 with the exception of the wanders (still a greater rise then 12%).

http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/a-league-takes-steps-to-draw-bigger-memberships-crowd-figures-start-official-supporters-clubs/story-e6frf4gl-1226447400755Another interesting article I have come across a while back, but decided I'd finally make an account and share it. Whilst the article was written in Aug 2012, so the current membership numbers aren't a great indicator. Three points stuck out: - Roar were looking to surpass membership figures of 4,459 from the 11/12 season. So in 2 seasons they have looked to increase that by 40-50%. Sitting on 6,105 at their latest update. But having a home game in week 2 you'd expect them to gain a few more this week and hopefully nudge 6,500-7,000 throughout the season. - Glory already had 5,000 members well out from the season start last year whereas this year they have only just hit that milestone. However, the stadium capacity last season was heavily reduced and they were coming off a grand final loss which both would have heavily contributed. By all reports, the buzz is back in Perth this season though and with kids like Maclaren, Edwards, De Silva and their new signing Sidnei looked to excite against Adelaide you can only expect good things. I hope that Perth may look to go for a big marquee next season instead of Smeltz. The reason I think they might is because they have a big stadium now and so they are now in a better position to profit off a marquee. Secondly, Sage said in pre-season that he expected next year to be the year when the club would give the title a shake, so he may be saving coin this season to unleash on next year. - Central Coast are already up 50% on their numbers from 11/12 season. 3,600 then. Already over 5,400. So big movers over the past few seasons look to be CCM and Wanderers. Whilst Brisbane, Victory, Sydney and Adelaide all look like getting back to their big numbers. Only Jets have really dropped off this season. But if 9/10 clubs can improve each year, you can't be too much happier than that. Edited by Tambo: 15/10/2013 01:13:19 PM
