from what i can remember, and a little bit of google-ing, we went to the new kit in early 2012. so 2 years after south africa WC. so that may mean we use the current kit for the asian cup, and a new design after that, yeah?

Yeah I'd say we'd be getting a new kit for the WC, just like we did in 2006 and 2010.

what is the most recent history of updates?

05 qualifiers was the one with number and circle on the front middle. for the 06 WC we had the plain nike one. pretty sure we wore that during south africa qualifiers too. just before south africa we went to the white horizontal stripe one, and in 2012 we went to the current one. so it seems the current one "jumped the gun" in comparison to how long we wore the 06 one.

Yeah we usually change every 2 years. We have a WC kit and a qualifying kit if you like.
