People actually bought that shit?

That was a forced meme, trying to make it a fad by advertising it constantly on TV. Never actually saw someone buy it.

My year 6 principal had to ban Pokemon cards iirc, because of too many people stealing and scamming people with them. The guy was a drama queen about it as well (I think he was a little suss tbh) by calling a whole school assembly and giving some speech about how executioners had to wear a black hat or some shit, he had a black hankie over his head during it. Was fucking weird.

The school I had before that (I moved for Year 6) it was marbles. Although that never got banned.

There were two yoyo phases when I was growing up, one in the late 80s and one in the mid 90s. Also marbles and NBA cards in the early to mid 90s. Happy Pants and hyper-color shirts, rebook pumps. I remember when wearing a soccer top from a European club was new and different (in Australia)... And now with cartoons and toys you see all these things making a come back like Ninja Turtles and Care Bears! It's really cool that I get to buy the same toys that I had as a kid for my kids!

Happy Pants...yes we actually wore this shit out in public! Every kid wore a pair to primary school in the early 90s. Heaps of different psychedelic colors.

Crazy bones were massive at my primary school until they got banned.

Around 2000 the pokemon and digimon battle tamagotchi things were also pretty big.

I thought this thread was going to be about the candy cigarettes that used to be called Fags

In primary school we had (in roughly chronological order) marbles, nba cards, pogs/tazos, oddbodz and baseball caps with the brim curved as much as possible.

NBA cards, USA 94 cards, NFL cards (go Jerry Rice!), turtles (so glad they're back), terminator and voltron. Oh and do they still make matchbox cars? Hotwheels were always so second-rate.

It all started with the Simpsons trading card for me, the ones with the bubble gum that took two hours to get into a gum like state and tasted like strawberry flavoured cardboard.

then B'Ball cards. USA Dream team <3

I was pretty apt with a yo-yo, I could walk the dog, do a cat's cradle, Eiffel Tower, around the world and a few others.

Got into the yo-ho Diablo and fire sticks, but that's what you did where I grew up.

after that I found girls. Haven't needed a fad to fill in my days since.

though I am partial to the World cup Sticker sets, I don't consider that a Fad though.

Beyblades, Yu-Gi Oh cards (Still have my deck, ended up playing my brother recently ), Digimon handheld devices (still remember being upset when I forgot to feed mine and he died :() were massive back in the day.

Anyone remember Tazos as well? Had tons of Simpsons ones. And those Dragon Ball Z discs that came in chips packets? They were awesome.

But obviously the biggest craze of them all were pogs.
