For me the only thing that could've saved it for a few more seasons was if Tara came back and she and Alan stirred up some saucy shenanigans every second episode or so. That said, it became boring seeing them win 99% of cases. On topic, I would've liked the series Standoff to get a few more seasons, I thought it had a bit of potential. Also, The Chicago Code that aired on Fox8 a few years ago, I couldn't believe it got cancelled. Such good characters. Should've at least got a second season.

Tara was an excellent character. And Rhona Mitra is a fucking babe. Photos don't do her justice.

Many of the shows listed weren't axed or cancelled but reached the end of their show run. Boston Legal was only picked up for 100 eps as Kelly wanted to tell a prises story arc. The same can be said for Avatar and Faulty Towers.
Firefly however is getting the fan power treatment, Jos stated that if the fans raised the capital he'd go back and shoot it so keep an eye out for the kickstarters.
Personally I miss Tru Calling, I'd have just liked them to have finished the second season rather than axing it before the major story arc had been resolved, same with Dollhouse, but the storylines were getting repetitive.

tbitm wrote:Arrested Development This. Even though it got revived, it's just not the same. The writers lost their spark in the 7 year hiatus. Nah I'm happy with how that went down. It started really shit in season 1 aside from having a fascinating premise. Then got cancelled but brought back straight away and was a million times better after the cancellation. It made them cut all of those side actors that no one cared about, couldn't act and/or were given atrocious dialogue. Was suddenly way more focused on the main story and wrapped it up pretty well. Didn't need to be dragged on any further IMO. Also, surprised no one has said Twin Peaks. I've only seen the first episode, but I'd watch the whole thing if I knew it would have an ending. Not worth getting into a show like that which will suck you in and abruptly end with no closure. Show that I wish was cancelled: LOST after season 2 or 3. Would have gone down as one of the greatest TV shows of all time if they quit while they were ahead. Once JJ Abrams was no longer involved it just slowly deteriorated and turned into a joke. But rather than being cancelled it preferably would have been concluded it at the end of Season 3 like JJ originally planned. Also retrospectively Dexter should have been concluded at the end of season 2. Just become more and more stupid since. Round of applause to Breaking Bad and the Wire which are two of the very very rare cases where a drama show actually gets better as it goes on.

Really? I was a huge fan but the show lost its direction around season 5 and just limped along until season 9 where even Fox Mulder couldn't be arsed. The Subsequent film was even a hollow gesture of a once former Awesome show. Add Pushing Daisies And Dead like me, though, Dead like me was only Awesome whilst the shows creator was involved and not being drawn away from its original premise by Sony execs.

Twin Peaks was cancelled due to the resolving of the Laura Palmer Murder, it was cancelled as everyone stop watching as they tried to keep the show going without the Palmer Mystery at its Core.

Speaking of which, has there ever actually been a show that has been cancelled and then brought back years later (be it as back to TV or a as a movie) that has NOT been regarded as a pathetic shadow of its former self?

Ah I see. Not that I'm that into trying new shows these days but do you think it's worth watching?

Futurama? I haven't watched much of the newer series, but from what I've heard it's not bad.
