This is an article I thought might be of interest.

Hopefully one day when i have some free time i can start my coaching education.

Excellent read. Agree wholeheartedly of course, but I expect the highest levels of coaching education to be prevalent at the highest levels of football in this country.

What I am really encouraged by is the fact that more and more youth coaches at grassroots level - and I am talking coaches of players/kids aged 8-13 - are teaching technique rather than hard running. The young kids of that age group that I see today are light years ahead of their counterparts from as recently as 5-10 years ago when it comes to their technical development.

We are definitely bringing through a greater pool of technically developed players than we used to. I believe the curriculum is working, though it has not yet permeated everywhere.

But we're on the right track.

Werent the FFA going to release the NC Version 2 a while back? i wonder why its taken a long time to so???

I agree the Elite levels were a seeing some serious improvement and will improve even more in the future with the SAP and NPL effect.

But alot more can be done in the grassroots area especially in the rural areas or areas where places just do it for the fun, i heard a rumour from a Football NSW interview with Han Berger that Version 2 will include Online content thats especially targeted for the Grassroots.
Ive been to the bush recently and they dont have the coaching tools to teach technique let alone positioning games or play a 4-3-3, just saying.

Well he's hoping its true because its more than just the elite level but also for people where they play the game for the enjoyment of things, the more we can give them the guidance to follow, by that not by showing them a video of how the Young Socceroos or a team like Barca plays, but real life examples where they can execute the same exercises shown in the NC to show that i can work so they can just enjoy the game that is all. I kind of feel sorry for the rural kids as they miss out compare to the urban kids where they get an advantage of better coaching, well supposedly anyway....

A very enjoyable read, and the list of participants at this course was impressive. I agree, that everyone walking away from this level of coaching training doesn't have to, and won't, implement what they have learned slavishly but they will all be better for having attended the course, as will our game. And it's just not at the elite level we are improving our coaching, but week in week out I now see players from the u10s through to u15s, boys and girls, being instructed to play with the ball rather than just hoof it. It's fantastic stuff.
