Jeggo and co seem promising, but the experience a Marquee or veteran VISA player could bring could make some difference.

Though on DM, there are rumours Ange may give former Aussie Abroad, Andreas Govas, a look over as a Celeski replacement. If so, that would be very interesting.

On Marquee thing - longer it goes on, less likely Victory will even opt for a Marquee. And fair enough too, IMHO. Unless it's a really worth it scenario, Victory hardly need one, on AND off the field. Ange and team just need players who can perform to task and it seems this squad is shaping up quite nicely to do that, going by the Liverpool game anyway?

Being the financially stable club and having a free international marquee spot will do that.

Also I'd rather Ansell and Galloway to keep their spots (and have Geria as the next in line for both). If we have to add someone to the system I'd rather it be someone to play as dual #10 with Finkler assuming Archie won't be playing centrally.

IMO i think Geria has a little way to go...his positioning was all over the place at the u-20 WC and his passing was petty bad against liverpool. Whilst i think we do need another defender im not sure using a marque spot on one is a good idea. That being said...trust in Ange.

Yeah, I kind of don't want a player that'd come in and bump either Galloway or Ansell out of the starting XI.

Seems like a great signing. Athletico Madrid play a very good possession based game, so I think he would slot into mv quite well. I just hope they do sign someone after all these near signings.

+1, no defender should be a marquee. This would be a good signing, that kind of experience is always good for an A-League side.

a lot of people rated him as the standout player of the Euro 2004 Greek team

Surely we have a bit of room in the cap to move.

I'm kind of conflicted with MV getting an experienced CB. Only because this impacts on Ansell's shot at a starting XI spot come the start of the season (surely Leijer will be ahead of the kid).

But, on the other hand, Leijer is the most experienced defender we have in the squad :?

On top of all of that, I don't want a defender as a marquee player. But, if the rumor that tbitm linked to is true, I can't see how we'd fit him under the cap for 600k...would totally hamstring the club, as we could/should be recruiting more players with that money in the cap (if we even have that much room in there to begin with).

Any more news on this?
