You are the only person who has ever rabbited on about Matthews Cuts on internet forums- nobody else, including me, would ever advocate such a thing.
For such an eminent internet sage as yourself, you sure have a tactful way of relating to people on the net....
Your insights into Campbelltown have been interesting, from a South Australian perspective. Also, from a former SA state league player like yourself, it makes your views especially interesting . In this state, we tend to think of the SA state league as being of a much higher standard than the Tassie NPL, the V League. Surprisingly, there is so much animosity from some other clubs directed towards South Hobart, many of them are supporting their opponents.](*,)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to play down the quality we have down here but I thought the best team from SA would be a class above. Absolutely intrigued to see how they'll go up against the quality of Sydney United. Campbelltown not the best team from SA... only finished fourth in the league and lost half their games during the season. Fluked a win in the top four play off and got to represent SA. Why didn't you offer your services to Campbelltown? You are one of the best players in the history of the SA state league. The Tassie fans would've loved to see you do some of those signature move shoulder feints and Matthews cuts out on the wing, with those luminous white, hairless, bow legs.=d> Edited by Decentric: 7/10/2013 12:51:52 AM Do you really think descending to personal abuse helps the discussion on this thread, decentric? You are in grave danger of becoming a total plonker.... No abuse mate. You know I've always been a big fan. Nevertheless, I only posted two words, in support of one club. I didn't offer any predicitions, analysis, or coaching advice. So your sarcastic, infantile ham fisted attempt at humour was not really called for. Think the SA premiers NE Metrostars should have played as opposed to the grand final winner, I think they were SA premiers by a fair margin.
Edited by justafan: 7/10/2013 10:05:50 AM Very disappointing. About 500 I think. I think many fans boycotted the game, because as state coach, Ken Morton selected a massive number of players from his own club against Victory Youth last week. Ken also controversially kept his son on for a full game, when most spectators agreed he was struggling and should've been replaced. Shame not more could see the bigger picture though. Until I attended this game I hadn't realised there were such acrimonious rivalries in local football.

Sorry, that should read only won half their games during the season... But congrats to S.Hobart, all reports said they played exceptionally well.

Absolutely intrigued to see how they'll go up against the quality of Sydney United. Unequivocally, South were the better team. All Tassie fans expected to be outclassed. Spoke to Joe Mullen, Campbelltown head coach, after the game. He said they'd only trained three times in the last fortnight, after their big win. They also had their top scorer out. He also said they were expecting a hard game. A lot of the South team were in the Tassie team that were outclassed by Melbourne Victory Youth 6-1 last week. Joe wasn't making excuses. I pressed him for answers, saying that the locals expected to be outclassed. He seemed happy, maybe looking forward to a rest at the end of the season. South had good possession. Although South won the state league, they lost to a current NPL club I'm one of the TDs with earlier in the season. South are supposedly a good team, but I always seem to have watched them on their off days. It was the best I'd seen South play today.

It'd be better next season when they get the premiers to play, rather than the champions.

South Hobart were also lucky they got a bye in the first round of the finals because only half the states were in it this year. In future they play the Victorian team. On the hope that Victoria fix up the FFV / club problems, the team that represent them will be one of the strongest in the competition on paper. Don't expect Tasmanian teams to host the final too often.

Should be at this game tomorrow.
It has had good coverage in the media here, certainly the ABC.
This years V League, the NPL has averaged crowds of 400.
Attendance has more than doubled from the old regional leagues. We now have an underpinning structure for a HAL team.
The football community is excited.
