No penalty should be given when a player does not even have time to react. The whole game would be about penalties then. And people would just kick towards others hands on purpose (which actually happends sometimes). if cross or shot is going in, and the player sticks his had out but clearly had time to react then fine a pen. But the one just now was no where near a pen.

Fair enough there, and I understand your point about just smashing it into peoples hands, but Vidics hand wasnt by his side, or in a natural position. It was stuck right out, and if the ref gave a pen it wouldnt have been a harsh decision.

When u run or walk or changing direction, your hands naturally will be out of position. Vidic was changing direction and the ball came off the boro (Huth?) player right onto his had less that 1 m away. Impossible to do anything about it. And even so, it wasnt a cross or shot. had the ball not touched vidics' hand he would of just cleared it. Cross or shot, fine but not random hit that would of led to nothing in anycase.
