I never said you were in no position to judge Stoke. You're free to judge them, or anyone as you want. My point was that you're argument about them not deserving to stay up, doesn't really have any merit considering your own teams position.

In more important matters,
Venegoor misses a clean chance, had a free header in the box. Go home, you useless Dutch prick. 10 min left. Fucking hell.

Where in my post did I say that you said Newcastle deserve to stay up? But if that's how you want to go, then

Stoke's position on the ladder: 11th
WBA position on the ladder: 20th

Methinks you do not really have a basis for an argument...;)

Can we please just ban seriously? We'd all be better off for it. Maybe he'll fuck off when Newcastle are in the championship because there won't be any news articles to comment on :-k

Based on how they played through the season, they earned Fourteen more points than West Brom. I'd say that's more deserving to stay up. They might not have played the most stylish football all season, but they're staying up and that's what counts so that they can get prizemoney and invest in the players that can play the football to get them playing more stylish football.
Btw, since you're a Newcastle fan and can't count, that's a whole 11 points more than you guys racked up this season ;)

Nah, same position as we were before the match. Newcastle AND Hull both have to win on Sunday to send us down (assuming we lose at home to Chelsea, which we will). I can see one of them pulling off an escape act, but not both of them.

Commentators annoyed me this morning - saying how Sunderland need to hold out for a point... A point makes no difference (unless you assume we're going to draw with Chelsea as well). A point still puts us in range of both Hull and the Mags if they win.

All sets up for an 'interesting' last day though. Either I'm proved to be a visionary for predicting Hull would go down with Boro and the Baggies; or I'm over-the-moon watching the Mags relegated; or I'm sick as a bastard on father's days watching my lads go down (yet again).

Relegation battle on the last day is going to be one to watch that's for sure. Cant Believe sunderland lost to pompey who had nothing to play for.

I dont see Chelsea losing. They would want to impress Guus before he leaves and they have come of the backs of excellent performances. With Anelka and drogba combining superbly.

Man utd will field a side strong enough to beat hull. Ronaldo and Rooney wont play. But Theyll throw in tevez, Berba, Rafael, Macheda, Oshea, Ji sung maybe etc. Still a very strong team. I dont see hull getting anything out of that. Plus they wont be under any pressure.

The most likely result is at Aston Villa with us. They are in very poor form. But its still very dangerous. Absolutely anything can happen on the last day.

I think if you guys pick up a point you will stay up. But I dont see you picking up that point.

I really wouldn't put it beyond us to be honest. Ricky Sbragia is possibly the least inspiring manager in the EPL (he's a lovely bloke, but has absolutely no command over the players).

I still think the Mags will pull one out of the bag at Villa, and that Hull will lose to Man Utd reserves.

I just want an early goal for either Villa or Man Utd to settle my nerves - at this point I honestly don't care whether the Mags or Hull go down, just as long as my lads stay up.

Nah, no haunting - my sig was always tempered by the fact that I've repeatedly stated that I believe your shower will survive with Hull going down with Boro and the Baggies.

You'll also note that my sig changed after the Everton debacle.

afromanGT wrote:

Nah, if the Mags win and my lot draw, the Mags will pass us on goal diff. Hull would have to win to stay ahead of the Mags as well.

I'm currently thinking that Hull will lose, my lot will lose and the Mags will survive by picking up a draw (Villa don't seem capable of winning at the moment and if NUFC can't get motivated for this one they deserve relegation). Hope I'm wrong and Villa murder them - sorry for the negativity, it's nothing personal toward the Mags here, just the effect of living the first 29 years of my life on Wearside.

I do believe Sunderland are safe. All logic points toward the fact that Newcastle can't win at Villa and Hull can't beat Man Utd reserves, BUT, logic frequently goes out of the window on the last day of the season... You'll like this one...

Back in around 1980, Sunderland went to Liverpool for the last game of the season - we needed a win to stay up. Liverpool, I believe, had just won the title AGAIN... We won 1-0, and after the match when the players returned to the changing rooms they found several bottles of champagne courtesy of Bob Paisley (who as a child had been a Sunderland supporter). Now - I'm not suggesting Bob threw the game (Liverpool legends don't throw games :-" ) = but the fact that we were able to win that day has always put doubts in my mind about the last day.

As for Scott McDonald... To be honest I haven't seen enough of him at league level, he doesn't look overly comfortable at international level though. I've a mate who works at Motherwell and he reckons the lad is a great little player and a hard worker, but a bit of a 'numpty' (foolish fellow)
