Wow. Alonso you hero.
Spain win 3-2 in ET, after going 1-0 down, then scoring in the 88th and 89th, and then conceeding in the 90th.
Brazil come back from 2-0 down at HT to win 3-2. Woot

Hahaha. I didnt actually watch the game, I just saw the goal. Hes still the hero though :P.
Yeah, Riera isnt good enough. I really hope we sign a new left winger. If we cant get Silva, perhaps Mata, like Torres said.
The SA free kick in the 90th was a brilliant strike

Did anyone see Riera's free kick a couple of matches ago. Didnt go in but it was an absolute bullet, well saved. Riera is a good player ffs. Sometimes he goes quiet but hes still a good player.

It was a little fortunate, but you know he's not having a good day when he even continuosly shakes his head after his lobs(I personaly would have blamed my new boots8-[). Quote:If we cant get Silva, perhaps Mata, like Torres said. STFU Fernando!:x Quote:The SA free kick in the 90th was a brilliant strike Now that was a screamer. The timing of the goal also made it that extra bit special. Quote:Riera is a good player ffs. Sometimes he goes quiet but hes still a good player. Mata has so far shown himself to be a far superior(and younger) winger.

Rukavystya came off the bench for Twente last night in the 60th min. The report said this:
After the resumption Rukavytsya still seemed to hit the jack, but his effort went just off target.
Lol. They lost 2-0

Lineup:
------------Cavalieri--------- Degen--San jose--Carragher--Insua Babel--Gerrard--Spearing--El zhar -----Voronin--Nemeth------
Halftime 0-0.
Gallen have looked by far the better side. Had one cleared off the line, one hit the post, one ruled out for offside, as well as a host of other chances. We have only forced their keeper into one save. Gonna look individually now:
Cavalieri - Looked suspect once or twice but done some good work. Needs to work on decision making.
Degen - Very quick. Needs to improve crossing. Has looked alright. Again, a few pieces of good work, a few errors. Overall, more positive influences than negative influences.
San Jose - Reminds me A LOT of Agger. Has the same movement. Reads the game very well. Impressed with him. Great up and comer. Very impressed.
Carra - Marvelous. All class at the back. Saved our ass a few times. Everpresent at the back.
Insua - Great crosser of the ball. But he has been caught out far too much. All their attacks have come down his wing. He comes too far forward too often. Needs to learn. Still, a good prospect.
Babel - Decent. Using his body well, a few great touches, but a few shocking ones too. Doesnt look like he really wants to be there. Not looking a cut above the rest, like Carra and Stevie do. Looks more like a reserve.
Gerrard - Nothing special, has had our best effort on goal, unsuprisingly.
Spearing - ABSOLUTE STANDOUT. The kid is great. Think of a lovechild between Masch and Alonso. He has Masch's grit, determination and doggedness. But he has Alonso's vision and has cut the defence open many times. Nothing much negative to say. Great player. Hope to see him more throughout the year.
El Zhar - Poor. Probably worst on the pitch. Very few, if any, good touches. Has turned over a lot of possession. Fails to pick out the pass. Not a fan.
Voronin - Playing very well. Vision is great, lots of lovely little flicks and layofffs, kindof like Berba. Has a bit of trouble when he has to go at a player. Prefers to lay it off. I'm impressed with him though.
Nemeth - Not looking too good. Not impressed. Seen a good touch here and there, looks like he has great technique, but havnt seen much of it. Too immature. Needs to settle down. Hes just a kid.
Lets see how the second half goes!
2ND HALF:
Martin Darby Skrtel Kelly Johnson Kuyt Lucas Plessis Yossi Pacheco Ngog
Johnson inches wide from croing on debut. Yes he is LB

0-0. But of a disappointing result against such low-level opposition, but it is first game of the season. Pacheco, Spearing and Plessis played a good game by all accounts and hopefully we'll get to see them in the cup this season at the very least. Perhaps more than that. They're becomming quite good. Voronin was laying off the ball so much mostly because he can't dribble for shit. Insua needs to realise that if there's space in front of him somewhere on the pitch, and the ball is at his feet, he doesn't have to run into it all guns blazing - that's only going to see him caught out by some pacey winger. San Jose's still only young and developing too, if he could manage some facial hair that would be a little more reassuring that he was physically up to the task and wasn't stuck pre-pubescence. Nemeth needs to develop some maturity pretty quickly and learn taht he can't chase every through ball and every cross. Either that or he needs to be able to be three places at once.

Yossi almost stole it at the end there. We were the worse side and shouldv lost. We got lucky. Looking individually again:
Martin - Saw nothing of him. Cant judge.
Darby - Liked what I saw. Nothing great, but would like to see more.
Kelly - Very promising. Made some fantastic tackles and reads the game well. Him and San Jose are good for the future.
Johnson - ABSOLUTE STANDOUT With Darby taking RB Johnson was forced to LB, but he played absolutely brilliant. Fantastic strength, pace, and almost scored early on. Really impressed me. Didnt turn over possession. Great player.
Lucas - Fit in well with the reserves. Spearing was miles better.
Plessis - Looks very good. Less of a creater, definitely more of a controller, content to knock it around.
Pacheco: FREAKING GUN And hes only 18! The kid oozes class. Every touch was wonderful, silky smooth. Not afraid to have a dig. Really really impressed me. Linked up with Ngog and Yossi wonderfully well.
Ngog - Very impressive. Pleased with what I saw
Kuyt, Yossi and Skrtel all played well.
My top 5 young prospects (in order)
Spearing Pacheco Plessis Kelly N'gog

Cruzeiro 1 - 2 Estudiantes de La Plata
That makes Estudiantes champions of South America for the 4th time now.
According to the matchcast, it was a pretty exciting game. Must watch when I get home. =p~

Was watchin the Gold Cup this morning. First match was Canada V Honduras. Honduras won 1-0 but fuck me Canada played well. They had so many chances they just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. There was this one player called Klukowski I think, he put about 10 crosses in the box perfectly but no-one could score. IMO Canada should of won 3-1.
Also USA beat Panama 2-1. I didnlt see the start of the game but I watched the final 15 minutes. USA were playing OK but Panama looked good as well. But eventually USA won after a penalty in Extra Time. Unlucky for Panama.

Where you at Oly? :P
HT 0-0
Similair story as v St Gallen. They have played on top of us, more intensity, more energy. They had one incorrectly ruled out for offside, and there have been a few pieces of great goalkeeping to deny them from going ahead. Lucky to be even. Hopefully the introduction of new players fires the boys up. Bring on Pacheco. Hope to see Masch and Spearing too
We havnt had one clear cut chance. Again, gonna look individually:
Cavalieri - As I said, has made some good saves, and one GREAT save towards the end of the half. Has looked solid 8/10
Degen - Not seen much of him. A few foolish fouls and caught out a few times. Very unimpressive. 6/10
Insua - Similar to Degen. Has put a few good balls in though, and looked good going forward. Still very immature defensively. Needs to learn soon. 6.5/10
Carragher - Very solid at the back. Few silly fouls and his timing isnt perfect, but hes been good. 7/10
Ayala - Made a few great interceptions. Have never noticed him being out of position or making an error. 7/10
Gerrard - Showed a few glimpses of class but a little bit quiet. 7/10
Plessis - Looked great at the start put petered out. Always looks aware, and plays some great passes. Good prospect. 7/10
Babel - Like Plessis, involved heavily early on but faded out. 7/10
El Zhar - Provided very little. Massive eh. 6.5/10
Nemeth - Spurned our best chance with a free header from 8 yards. Been defeated in every tussle, never wins the aeriel battles. Two games and two poor performances. Wont be sad to see him go now. Hasnt matured. 5.5/10
Voronin - Hasnt looked as good as he did against St Gallen. Hasnt done much. 6.5/10.
