what angers me most about this is that when they find the guy that did it and if he is 16YO, he's more than likely gonna get just a slap on the wrist cause he is underage ](*,) hope the guys recover 100%

Quote:A man has been stabbed during a vicious brawl after an A-League soccer match at Moore Park in Sydney’s inner city. Police said a number of men became involved in a fight after leaving the match between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory at Allianz Stadium about 10.15pm on Saturday. A man, aged in his 20s, was stabbed in the torso and three other men were injured during the fight outside the Bat and Ball Hotel at the intersection of South Dowling and Cleveland Streets. An hotel employee said about 30 people were involved in the fight, which lasted for 10 minutes. Advertisement He said he saw a number of scuffles break out between a group of Melbourne Victory fans and another group of young people who were not wearing soccer jerseys. "They didn’t seem to know each other. It was a group of Melbourne Victory fans being attacked by a group of youths who were not in colours," the employee said. He said the group of young men had been waiting for the fans. Riot squad officers and mounted police reportedly attended the scene and streets were closed to traffic. The man who was stabbed was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A spokesman for St Vincent’s Hospital said the man was in a stable condition. Three other men, one aged 18 and two in their 20s, were also taken to hospital suffering minor injuries sustained during the brawl. They were in a stable condition, the spokesman said. Police arrested a 16-year-old male at the scene and he was taken to Redfern Police Station where he was assisting with inquiries as investigations into the incident continue. Soccer fans around the country expressed their disbelief about the brawl on Twitter. Quote:Sarah Williams @sairz87 posted Saw the altercation from a distance. Scary stuff. Thoughts are with the #mvfc fans who were injured. Here's hoping the hurt lads are gonna be okay, it looks like the instigators weren't Sydney FC supporters....lets hope not.

Very glad to read from the police statement that the injuries are not life threatening. Hope that the victims make a full recovery and that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

To me that just shows what a pathetic human being he really is. Disgusting to take something like this ( that any sane person is appalled with) and try to turn it into an Anti-Sydney thing.

Pull your head in Kane.
Fingers crossed this kid (perp) wasn't at the game/ wasn't a Sydney fan, as seems to be the case.
Anyone care to elaborate on the KA situation?

Not turning this into a club vs club thing but if we're basing this off the fact that the group weren't wearing colours then that's a very tenuous link at best imo. As monumentally stupid as this whole thing is I don't think these guys would be stupid enough to wear something so distinctive as team colours, not to mention the fact that if they are wanna be ultras they would have been dressed casual anyway.

To be honest I was being a little optimistic. However, there was a level of obnoxious behaviour shown by SOME victory fans at the game tonight, that would be enough to set off a stupid kid (on something) if they came across them in the street. Not to say that obnoxious behaviour wasn't going both ways, and I'm not implicating all or even most Victory fans. However I did see a few small examples of some over zealousness from some younger guys, which could have contributed to the event after the game, should they have crossed the wrong kid.

Fair enough, but from all accounts I've seen floating around social media it very much seems like the assailants were waiting for them, it just seems way too premeditated to be a random or non football related attack.

Innuendo and hearsay is way over the top. This thread is click bait for egg-ball journos. Stupid comments, stupid immature posters. Shame on the mods for keeping it open - it's not football. I've never had any respect for Mack, the guy is a bottom feeder and this thread continues the trend. No one in the Cove would ever condone this kind of BS and if people did set up an attack, they should be dealt with in a proper fashion.
I'm not a big fan of Jaza but I know for a fact that Jaza has the same policy on all matters. If fans from another club attacked someone and rumours were posted they shit would get shut down too. I know that because it's happened. He's not a hypocrite in this situation and trying to imply that he is, is very disingenuous.

harpsy wrote: It's all retarded at the end of the day. Theres a lack of maturity and respect. The best thing about football in this country is that you can passionately support your club, but then expect that no matter what happens, you can still stand in the same vicinity of some opposition supporters and not have any issue... of late, this appears to have gone well and truly out the window
This x10000 This is something that is generally great about this country and sport - despite all the heated words thrown at players and referees/umpires, sport here generally feels safe. Sitting amongst opposition, walking out the gate together, it should never be underestimated how significant this is.

-PB What a stupid comment. Twice as many supporters there as Fury have ever gotten to their biggest game, and a couple of people who will be heftily dealt with apparently make up the rest of the clubs' opinion? We are a big club, there are dickheads in the club that no-one wants. Who the fuck cares about the media and general publics opinion on this issue when some poor souls are sitting in a hospital bed and their families probably so shaken up they're out of their minds? Madness. Edited by 4wanderer4: 10/11/2013 09:56:28 AM
