Surely the days of hiring Coaches with no experience are well and truly over.If they ever existed. All coaches should at least have coached one team before.Even Aloisi coached a youth team.

Hopefully not another Aloisi job-for-the-boys.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Should be the pattern for all Aussie coaches... Pity we don't have a national second division (no promotion/relegation, just a higher standard of second tier).

TBH Just can't see it, but working his way, bottom up, slowly, still possible I guess. He'd have to be on the coaching staff or NYL Coach first, at the very best. A-League' minimum requirements for a head coach = 'A Licence' at the very least and my info coming from a few seasons ago now. It could well be 'pro-licence required' now as the FFA were intending to head that way, encouraging all the coaches, Fergie, Miron, Branko and co at the time, to work towards their pro-licence. Arnie, Ange, Ali Edwards, Ernie Merrick and Josep Gombau all have their Pro-Licence or equivalent, at the very least. Mike Mulvey would have A atleast, as too the others. Aloisi was still working on his IIRC. Muscat may be too. Phil Moss seems a little older and was assistant to Arnie/groomed longer, so may well already have his pro-level or be working on it. GVE no idea, but he's been around the national coaching traps with the Jets and the AIS/NT Youth Set Up a long enough while now, to have his Pro-licence. So anyway, that's the level the league is at now. UEFA B means he still needs to achieve his UEFA A badge and then UEFA Pro-licence, the latter which the likes of Merrick, Gombau and JVS have. FTR Aloisi - I get the sense he's worth giving more time. His newly assembled team takes a while to gel and some key players like Kewell and Engelaar are still out. But seems we saw very promising signs last game with some inspired play from Heart. It COULD be the kind of performance they could build on, to turn their form around. Migliorini pulled out big time with two great goals and Murdocca was tearing it up too, going by highlights, having a great game! Heineken wrote:Didn't realize he was still alive... I have no doubt he's been just one phone call away from that job whenever he wanted it ever since he hung up his boots.
Edited by paladisious: 13/11/2013 11:28:55 PM Former Socceroo & Knights legend Andrew Marth is doing a pretty good job there at the moment. I doubt the Knights or Dukes would want to throw him under the bus for the sake of a token appointment, maybe he could be Marth's assistant to start his coaching career.

You mean the taller, longer, and free one? I'm actually about to drive over it to work, I'm living very close to Dukes now! Williamstown is by far the nicest of the suburbs in this direction, on the beach with views out to the bay and back to the city. Also one of the oldest. It would have been the beach Viduka went to when he was a kid growing up in Melbourne's north west.

Something that had occured to me when he first returned to the club, but momentarily slipped my mind. Viduka would fit nicely as an assistant to JVS. JVS may also be able to hook either Viduka or Aloisi up with gigs overseas if the current situation doesn't work out. Van't Schip can't even set himself up with a coaching gig overseas. The other Dutch cash cow in town (Pim Verbeek) also better not have his eye on an A League team, as he'd ruin that as well. If these coaches were so great, then why aren't they doing something closer to home? Thats where the best football is happening, not in Australia.

I would not be surprised to see John Van't Schip return to head coach is John Aloisi is no longer in that position before January. Why would this make sense for Heart? Can't Coach took Heart to 8th and 6th in two seasons. In those two seasons he was outperformed by many other coaches, local and abroad, and nearly all cheaper than him. He then went to one of Mexico's biggest clubs and they went from league contenders to mediocrity. If Aloisi goes, I wouldn't mind considering someone like Viduka as its not a backwards step. However last time we went for the 'high profile' coach we got Aloisi and he hasn't figured out what he's doing yet. If we go with a new coach, we need to give them free reign to play their own game of football and not continue flogging this Dutch 4-3-3 horse, which Aloisi has limited faith in and the results show this. As long as Aloisi persists with this, he will fail.

RedKat wrote:Muscat doesn't have an assistant yet does he? Darren Davies is currently taking the role in addition to his duties as NYL coach. It'd be a shame to lose him from the NYL squad as he's been fantastic there under Ange, brining through Pain, Cristaldo, Murnane, the Jeggos, the list goes on. I'd be delighted to see Dukes and Allsopp deputising for Muskie, the latter scouting for FFV since retiring. When I first saw the headlines re Brebner I had thought he'd filled the vacancy (after his experience managing in the VPL).
