Why doesn't anyone ever suggest Illawarra Wolves though? Seems the perfect name to me, incorporates the whole region better than Wollongong but makes alot more sense than South Coast which is a silly name for an A-league club when we have Central Coast and previously Gold Coast...

Well, we are an island, with plenty of coastline.

Illawarra Wolves is terrible.

South Coast or Wollongong.

All I see when I look at the front profile wolf is "harmless wolf with massive nose"

Fine, but just seems to make more sense to me and considering I live 1000km closer to the Illawarra than you do :lol: Anyway it should be up to the locals ala WSW community forums, to decide name colors badge etc. They may not even want to go with existing heritage of Wolves - or they may absolutely love them to pieces and not want anything else. We won't know until FFA get some balls and start tapping up the area for a club though!

Here is the REAL reason the Wolves got cheated out of a proper home ground - all the Rugby League clubs down there have big pokies dollars helping them buy what they need...

Thought your, at least I think it was you in the expansion thread, idea of abandoning the Wolves theme and naming a team after the Illawarra flame tree was a good one.

Crest = awesome. Roar should have done something like that a long time ago.

Kit = Rubbish.

I love both.
After the Wanderers' pre-season strip, nothing looks rubbish :lol:

that is bloody fantastic. the logo is really good, would become the best in the league if implemented.

both kit options are really good. i'd rather see wollongong wearing the white shirt (red details), with red shorts and socks to give them a good colour contrast against all teams especially sydney fc, victory, glory etc.

That one is a how-to in making a garbage strip. Even the club have said it's NEVER returning.

also for the name, the order of preference should be:
1. wollongong wolves
2. illawara wolves
3. south coast wolves

the idea of having another 'coast' team is a killer, should not happen.

Ye that was me - considering that the only color any team that has played out of Wollongong has ever worn seems to be red, would fit well. I honestly think it's cool, and if they ever have any WSW-syle community forums I will go down to it and suggest it as an idea for sure. But then, there is so much legacy around the Wolves culture - is that worth trading off? We shall see (hopefully).

Hahaha ye I was there - even my girlfriend laughed when he said that :lol: What was that socceroos guy at the Parramatta forum with the English accent that was suggesting something equally silly, I wonder if those people feel pretty humble now WSW has become such a success :lol:

IMO this belongs in State League Index.

In saying that - love it! I've already pledged to whoever will listen that if a SC team get into the comp, I'll be considering them my "other team" and will be heading to as many games as possible.

IMO the home kit should be similar to Roars third kit - with a red instead of orange sash. Grey and red makes more sense to me for a SC team - red for the Illawarra flame tree, grey for the steelworks.

Our association is called South Coast Football, not Illawarra football. South Coast is appropriate. The Illawarra technically covers the outskirts of heathcoat/waterfall all the way up to the southern highlands. This is a team for the coast.
