I'd go to it. I actually follow the Red Bulls so wouldn't mind seeing a game in Sydney.

Henry, Cahill and some other decent players.

A much better squad than what LA Beckham had when they came over. If tickets are reasonably priced and its played in Sydney , Melbourne or possibly Brisbane it would do well. Around the 30-40k crowd mark could happen. Depending on who they play of course.

When would they come?
If they come in their preseason then all the A-league teams would be playing A-league games.

i dont exactly know how to put into words, how i feel about the possibility of this. i'll give it a shot though...

to be quite honest, i dont believe its worth bringing them out here. i might be miles off in saying this, but many MLS teams are very comparable to what we have here in the A-League. if we're going to bring teams out here, it should be ones like Man Utd and Liverpool. When clubs like these come out here it grabs headlines, creates a buzz and almost always generates mass amounts of positivity for Australian Football. I do understand that it probably takes a hell of a lot more to get bigger clubs out here for exhibition matches, but it cant be said that it isnt well worth the effort. In saying this I'm not slagging off any MLS team, far from it in reality. But if we're gonna bring teams over from other corners of the globe, we may as well go all out.

I think it's more NYRB wanting to come here rather then a league clubs trying to bring them here.

I agree, I feel as though both leagues are fairly even. We could make it an annual game, the a-league premiers/champions v the MLS Cup Winners.

MLS teams are not an attraction, let alone one of the worlds most plastic clubs. Henry is past it anyway. There are way more interesting teams from Europe that would be better suited. The top EPL and La Liga will always prefer to go to America or China so we should be pushing for more teams from the Bundesliga, Eredivisie, Serie A etc are what we should be pushing for. Ajax, Dortmund, Schalke, Roma, Bayern, Juve.

Why? We have no sporting rivalry with America, and we have nothing really to prove.

If you highlighted the writing before it, you'd see that the reason is because our leagues are fairly even. I'm not saying we should definitely do it but we can at least consider it. We don't have a sporting rivalry with them because we don't play similar sports, except football. So why can't we turn that into a sporting rivalry?

My exposure to the MLS is limited, but from what I have seen I think it is better than the A-league. Which is not necessarily a criticism on the A-league, because the MLS started in 93 I think, but yes I feel they are still above us... for now.

Indeed Jon90, one should expect it to be, especially with the gains they've made the last 6-7 seasons!

Some people are soo silly, or perhaps it's just their enthusiasm for the league getting carried away - latter understandable, as too passion to 'defend' it, but the A-League still very much a work in progress and still very much in it's 'earlier stages' so in that regard we're doing well AND can have ALOT to look forward to. But it's far from there yet and MOST of our 'benchmarks' for where we aspire to be and even partially model our reforms are ofcourse still way ahead of us (MLS, J and K-League etc).

Just being practical again - Looking to our own backyard - forget the MLS, let's do better in the ACL! Superior, though not GREATLY superior anymore, J, K and C-League sides and even more big money sides from the Mid-East etc... We have a chance via atleast one representative, to play those sides, NOT in pre-season friendlies, but intense, competitive matches, often at the tail-end of our season. Mariners, Roar, Victory and co have had a few turns at it and the Wanderers will have their chance too.

Look forward to how our sides do in the 2014 ACL, as that's the next time our top teams get to test themselves against the benchmarks of teams within our Confederations - leagues who are well worthy benchmarks to strive for!

can see this working for the fact that there are a lot of Arsenal supporters that would pay to see King Henry. Definitely not past it, obvs hes lost a lot of his speed, but hes still a quality player who would tear apart the A league. Not to mention New York have Cahill as well
