I don't think it's the NUMBER of Melbourne teams, it's what they stand for. At least South have a point of difference and it's not just a case of being Red and not Blue. All respect to you, as you seem to be a good dude, but your team just doesn't stand for anything.

Thanks. I agree that MH has lost its way, mainly because of a lack of success on the park. A winning team would create something to work from.

Adding another team just makes no sense though. As much value as some may think SMFC would bring to the comp, there's just as many question marks around it too in the eyes of many.

Irrespective of that, I think these "sources" may well be very, very far off the mark, especially as the FFA have said that no expansion is on the cards in this broadcast deal.

IMHO, SMFC either buy out MH or they will wait a long time to come in.

I feel the FFA will be killing a club by letting any third Melbourne club into the A-League and that is the last thing they will want to do.

Hypothetically, if Heart or Victory moved say to Geelong (obvious choice due to infrastructure and population) then it would leave a gap in the city for a 3rd Victorian club. This may be the option for SMFC as well - become a 3rd Vic club, not a 3rd Melbourne club. I can't see them doing that but it is a more viable option I think.

Extremely likely but something to talk about.
