My explanation is that Griffin (or another staff member) looked at the draw and saw B1 v B2 on 5 August and assumed it meant "highest ranked team in B pot vs second highest ranked team". Based on last years table that would give us Sydney v Adelaide away. It's actually first drawn from pot B vs second drawn from pot B but that's almost certainly where the confusion is.
