You have got the top teams playing some of the worst minnows and I thought that is the way the draw is structured where it should have been completely random. It's the first year of the FFA Cup. I guess FFA had to balance things out and keeping it interesting up to the SFs with at least one non-A-League club, hence the draw. It is contrived for that very reason. If all the non-A League clubs get completely smashed by the A-League clubs, there might be changes next time around. If clubs from one state get completely smashed this time around, there might be changes next year in the allocations. As a starting point, the FFA have done well.

Once again, it's structured to guarantee non-HAL clubs in the semis. -PB

#WellingtonOut rofl bad luck you drew the spuds. #FuckOffNZ FFA made it clear in the FFA Cup Q&A section that Wellington won’t be playing games in NZ. They might be listed as the home team, but the game won’t be in NZ. Moving on Adel City v WSW will be a cracker, may fly down for that one. Edited by wamackie: 27/6/2014 02:21:08 PM

Aside from the Melbourne City v Sydney FC game, the 3 games I'm probably most eager for, in no particular order: 1. Central Coast Mariners v South Coast Wolves - the battle of the coasts/region just north of Sydney vs region just south. Especially since the A-League needs a South Coast/Wollongong team, this is going to be a great match. 2. Hakoah vs Palm Beach. I've developed a bit of a soft spot for Hakoah recently, probably because they're massive underdogs and have done great in the qualification rounds. That, and they've got Lloyd Owusu. 3. South Hobart vs Tuggeranong. Tasmania vs ACT. C'mon, two Minnow states. Whilst either winner would be good, seeing a Tasmanian side go the distance would be fantastic to see. In addition to that the Manly Utd vs Sydney Olympic game will be a cracker. As will the Sydney Croatia game.

Quote:Top 5 FFA Cup ties
Today’s round of 32 draw in the Westfield FFA Cup has produced some cracking match-ups with city derbies and minnows versus giants. Here is the pick of the ties from today’s live draw on Fox Sports.
Melbourne City versus Sydney FC
Cashed up City have an early chance to lay down a marker against a Sky Blue outfit rapidly regenerating under Graham Arnold. It’s the new bling of Melbourne versus the former Bling FC from Sydney who’ll have new signings Bernie Ibini, marquee Alex Brosque and Shane Smeltz on show. For City, David Williams is one to watch.
Manly United versus Sydney Olympic
It’s the Sydney derby! Cromer Park will be jammed for this one as Olympic make the trek across the Harbour Bridge to face a Manly side brimming with confidence after their eye-catching Waratah Cup run. Watch out for Olympic’s Evan Kostopoulos – the former A-League man from Adelaide United.
Bayswater City versus Melbourne Victory
Coaches Chris Coyne and Kevin Muscat were two of the toughest Socceroo defenders – now these two will put their friendship aside for one of the biggest days in WA club history. Wonder what reception Victory’s Besart Berisha will get from the local fans – he’s a favourite of the Glory boo-boys. Fans may even see World Cup Socceroos James Troisi and Mark Milligan in the Victory line-up.
Adelaide City versus Western Sydney Wanderers
One of the former powerhouses of national league football against the new A-League powerhouse from Sydney’s west. With the RBB set to descend on the South Australian capital, the atmosphere will be electric when the Zebras take on the red and black, who’ll also be preparing for their glamour ACL quarter finals clash in August. It’ll also see a return to the city for former Adelaide United striker Tomi Juric.
Stirling Lions versus Brisbane Roar
It doesn’t get any bigger than this for the Lions. The reigning Hyundai A-League champions and premiers flying in to Perth for a clash. Home fans may even get to see World Cup Socceroo Matt McKay in the Roar line-up. Should be a sell-out at Macedonia Park. http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/article/top-5-ffa-cup-ties/2cg23xv9b6181eqvpdbcww8akMelbourne City w/o David Villa. Might get a win. [-o<
