Yep, looks like South Hobart might stream it. They're running a test right now so keep an eye on their channel on matchday.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Awwww fuck yeah hoes!

If Wellington can play in this tournament, shouldn't that mean the Malysian team in the NPLQ should be able to compete too?

No, because Brisbane already have an existing team in the comp.

THERE is a buzz around South Hobart Football Club going into tomorrow night’s FFA Cup round of 32 clash against Tuggeranong United.

South trio Hugh Ludford, Brayden Mann and Caleb Ludlow are all relishing the occasion that awaits them under lights at KGV.

Captain Ludford, the rock of South’s defence, was a part of last October’s NPL Cup side that lost to Sydney United 58 in the final.

“I think [we’re] a little bit more excited, there’s a little bit more hype around the FFA Cup [than the NPL Cup]. It’s going to be a big game, everyone is buzzing,” he said.

Mann, the Victory League golden boot leader, is one of a number of South’s players who were not part of the NPL Cup side last year.

“We aren’t even semi-professional, we’re just amateurs and we’re coming up against some big teams in the competition but we have quality in our team.”

Midfield maestro Ludlow, 19, is hopeful being on the national stage will do his National Youth League contract aspirations the world of good.

“Any game I play is important to my career and these national games are especially important and you don’t know who could be watching,” Ludlow said

Ludlow lives and breathes football, spending five to six days a week training and coaching South’s juniors at Morton’s Soccer School.

Finger's crossed for St. Albans tonight, nothing personal against Parramatta but it'll be a blight on the competition if a team that actually lost two games progresses too far in a knockout cup.

FFS it wasn't going to be televised.

If the lighting was good enough for a football match then it should go ahead there.

The article mentions the decision was made in conjunction with the players association. It looks like the a-league players (Roar and Victory) may have complained about lighting quality at the proposed Macedonia Park. There are Australian Standards (AS 2560.2.3-2007: Sports lighting - Specific applications - Lighting for football) that have to be met for Professional competitions. For a professional competition lighting must be an average of 500 Lux. For a semi-professional comp its only 200 Lux, and amateur is only 100 Lux.
For a practice match involving professionals, the lighting requirement is only 200 Lux (which Macedonia Park probably meets), but as soon as it is a competitve fixture involving professional teams the Australian Standard states that it must be 500 Lux for Health and Safety reasons.

I skimmed your post, and the article TBH, but I thought I read that this Macedonia Park had previously been approved for this competition.

Yeah, I think the FFA initially mistakenly approved it, but it looks like the Professional Players Association have said we're not playing there, it doesn't meet the Australian Standards for Lighting for a competitive match. It would have probably still been used if Stirling or Bayswater had drawn against non a-league teams, as Macedonia Park would meet the standards for semi-professional competitive matches.

Surely this competition should be treated under the one set of rules - isn't that the whole idea of the Cup?

If that was the case, all games would have to be played at venues that met professional standards, and almost every game would end up having to be shifted as very few suburban grounds meet professional playing lighting standards. There are probably insurance ramifications if a professional player got injured playing a competitive match at a ground whose lighting did not meet the Australia Standard.

Some truth to that, but the system is not a good one. It's a fuck up from the FFA half arsed solution from Football NSW after they only got 7 spots after expecting 8. If we have to use state cups as the qualifiers then the format of these cups means states should only get 1,2,4 or 8 qualifiers so we don't have to deal with this shit. Otherwise separate the FFA Cup from the State cups and have it's own qualifiers to allow a bit of flexibility.

One of the suburban grounds the Wolves sometimes play at is called Macedonia Park. It's just renamed Hooka Creek Park whenever it's mentioned somewhere.

I'm expecting NSW to lose 1 spot so next year it could be easier. Or we could make it a play off against NNSW or ACT.
