Ange needs to start looking at Antonis, he has a huge engine was still going strong through extra time, he is getting better and better, and does not have the issues with lack of fitness and workrate that seem to plague the other talented youth players. Gameiro is a really good goal poacher, if put upront he will score if he is out wide where Farina put him then he is going to struggle and look poor. Also thought Naumoff is one of the more talented youngsters and yet has not been given a look in by Okon, in a few seasons time he will be a big asset in the A-league. Sydney looked to be defending deep with Ognenovski that could be a much more effective tactic. Looking at City Duff might come in useful to put in crosses for Kennedy if he comes to the club, not that I could see what he was doing because of the poor coverage. Not sure how he fits in otherwise and that means they have one less fast player up front for their playmaker to aim at. City will need theie marquee to deliver a lot because I couldn;t see a lot happening without him. Didn;t think much of North Queensland. Sydney United to me have too many strikers in their squad, they really needed to invest in other parts of the squad. They did well against North Queensland but they are struggling at state level. WSW are the biggest joke, they are the ones playing in the ACL , yet seem to have gone on an off season bender , if Sotirio is starting and Soitirio he looked only fit enough for 30 minutes in the youth game in the US, what condition are some of the others in. They could be a huge embarrasment in the ACL quarters.

Some pretty poor defending by the Wanderers, but take nothing away from the scorer though. It goes to show running at defenders, can make things happen.

Triantis is back to full fitness, and it recent weeks has filled that hole Glen Trifiro left. the link up with our strikers is what we were lacking, our season may be over, but we still have round of 16 to look forward too.
Not a Phase, Not a Trend, SYDNEY UNITED till the END!

Triantis is a slacker, he is a lot better than Trifiro but doesn;t seem to try , if he gives 100% maybe with the FFA cup limelight he can really be a force.

Agree on Antonis - he certainly kept being a thorn to citeh, blocking pass's and defending, then moving forward making use of younger Naumoff - who had a sound game as well. Gameirio is sure pushing to be in the starting line up - bloody sound the last few games. Most did well but for Carle imo, he just doesn't seem to be getting the space he needs ? maybe where FF had him play defensive has fucked him up ? I'm sure Arnie will sort him out though. I thought Mooy for his first appearance here for them played quite sound - always caused us trouble just didn't have the support enough around im.

He is confused cos you wrote 2 and not 4 next to south springy

Given the conditions I don't think there were too many people at either. From the pictures I've seen of both games, and the limited footage I watched, there might have been a few hundred people at each - all huddled inside the grandstand trying to avoid the driving rain.

I was considering putting the divisions next to each team, but I thought there were too many brackets and that in itself would lead to more confusion.

Mooy was a stand out for City. And that long shot of his, deadly. This. Correct - cracker shot from out the box, Janjetovic had it covered but surprisingly didn't get a finger to it but the ball skimmed the cross bar from memory. He's a a busy mid on the ball and when he's around the box you know he's going to go for it or release a good ball most times.

Mooy IMO has been City's best pickup this season. Still can't believe the Wanderers let him go. It was a cracker of a hit too. IIRC I had recently just said moments before that I felt we were going to lose the game. IMO we did get lucky. If it weren't for the two penalties and City capitulating in the final 10 minutes, I think he would have lost on penalties. In saying that I think Arnold took Ibini and Carle off a bit too early. Another 10 minutes or so and I reckon we'd have scored a second.

bomberboy wrote:Abbas and Keogh joint top scorers with 2 Another fun fact. Corey Gamerio now has 7 goals in 5 pre-season turnouts for us. 2 goals vs. Macarthur 0 goals vs. Newcastle 2 goals vs West Ham 2 goals vs Bonnyrigg 1 goal vs Melbourne City. Hopefully he keeps this form up leading into the season.

I'd say the crowd at United was between 1000-1500. Probably closer to 1000. There was a couple hundred on the opposite side of the grandstand who braved the elements for close proximity to the bar and a bit of banter. The grandstand looked about 3 quarters full. While the 5000 club (glassed off area inside the grandstand) had the usual 100/200 oldies. Havent heard anything official from the club yet though.
