It was a bad case of offseason blues. This year we have had big friendlies, a decent ACL run to follow, regular midweek football and the FFA Cup.

TIL John Tambouras played for South Melbourne, Fury, Guangzhou Evergrande and the heady heights of Neftchi Baku.

It's not hard to argue that Bayswater's performance would have been enough against many other A-League teams.

I really hope that the FFA don't seed the draw like last time, the more pairings of A-League vs State teams the better, I say. Hopefully they will because it's been proven how likely upsets can be.

After this FFA cup fans should be crying for blood at people in charge of a league scouting networks

I would estimate there are 10-20 players good enough to make the step up which would significantly improve the league

furthermore how many players could make the jump that didnt make the ffa cups advanced stages

Anyone who watches the better state leagues could have told you that any time in recent years, but the FFA Cup has proven it.

I've said for donks, the very smallest of the hurdles for an A2-League is the talent pool; give 120 or 150 Australians the chance to train and play full time plus cheap imports and the product will be there.

Maralunda (the #9) has trialled at Glory a few times but they've never wanted to risk a VISA spot on him or even an injury-contract when Smultz was injured.

With the product comes the fans. Why we don't make an A2 leagues with EXISTING clubs is beyond a fucking joke.

But nahhhhhhhhh lets make expensive franchises with some dickknob making fake logos for clubs that dont exist yet.

I say a hybrid model. South Hobart? You can rename to Hobart for your A2 team, or take the licence to operate Hobart FC. Same goes to you Palm Beach with Gold Coast MkII.

So with the RO32 complete, that's 6 A-League teams through alongside 10 Member Association teams.

The draw procedure has it to only be one all-A-League match, three all-Member Assocication matches and four A-League vs Member Association games.

That makes for HAL teams a 66% chance of facing a State team and 33% chance of facing another A-League team, and State teams have a 40% chance of facing a HAL team and 60% chance of another non-HAL team.

If you assume HAL teams will always beat the MA teams (which is of course erroneous, but we'll go with it for this prediction) that makes 5 HAL teams in the RO16 playing two all HAL games, one HAL v MA game and one MA v MA game.

Open draw next season plz.

I don't feel the need to take the title South away from them unless they want to. It's not like it affected South Melbourne.

You can take the money saved from creating a franchise from scratch and put it into a stadium upgrade.

I'm in two minds; It depends on what you're aiming for from an A2 I guess.

On one hand I'd like each team to really secure the popular backing from their area, that means one team from, say, Hobart, becoming the most supported team from Hobart, in which being FC Hobart, Hobart FC, Hobart City, whatever, would be useful to secure the loyalty at that level of fans of other local teams.

On the other hand, they've been South Hobart since 1911, more than ten times the life of the A-League, so who am I to suggest a change.

That's what I'm going with. A club that lasts so long shouldbe given a chance. I mean South Melbourne worked for over 30 odd years in the top flights.

South Coast should be promoted along with SH. I say promoted because I reckon you could spin it to the AFC that way to get 4 spots. Mon.

I think you know that the supporter base is something other than geography for South Melbourne.

Apparently the AFC don't care about pro/rel this week.

Why are we even talking about anything other than how NSW only had four of it's bevy of 13 teams good enough to survive the RO32?
