If Canberra builds that new Civic stadium, and Australia enters the 20th century and builds a HSR line along the east coast including Canberra then yes, until then no way.

Perth Glory's last game at Knights Stadium was on the 21st of December, 2003, when a crowd of 3693 watched Mark Shield officiate a 0-2 win for Glory over Melbourne Knights, with both goals from Nick Mrdja beating the defence of Adrian Leijer, Roddy Vargas and Steve Pantelidis. The game also featured quite a few more familiar names.

Any ideas so far? I think they might wait till they know who's in it first. Bit silly if it was brisbane vs melbourne and they'd already booked sydney I vaguely remember reading a long while back it was probably going to be held in Canberra. :-k Maybe from next season onwards, as the final will be held on Australia Day. Yes please to Aussie Day, no thanks to Canberra lol. -PB If Sydney make it to the final, I really hope it's in Canberra. We play Victory in Melbourne on the 13th December (my birthday, I'll be down for that), and then the finals 3 days later. Will be able to drive from Melbourne to Sydney via Canberra. Or just have it at Alianz?

You may have done a lot for the game, I guess we will have to take your word on that, but to suggest that others...be they 'new dawners' or otherwise haven't also done a lot for the game or are in some way less deserving than yourself is frankly fanciful. And while we're at it, you can disparage the former NSL clubs or mono ethnic clubs as you like to call them with your thinly veiled racism, but to try and denigrate their contribution to Australian Football is quite frankly repugnant. There are many reasons why Football in this country needed a reboot and why our fully professional league is 'better' than the semi professional league which it replaced....but that does not demean nor devalue their contribution. I have been a staunch advocate of the A-League and of many of the changes imposed on Australian Football by the FFA, and would like to think that I have been able to argue my viewpoints without being called racist or making what are widely perceived as thinly veiled racist attacks....why don't you try and do the same. Quite frankly your thinly veiled racism is becoming very tiring. Now let's please return this thread back to its topic, thanks. Now looking forward to paulc agreeing with Joffa and stopping being racist

Quote:Cup spot the reward in PS4 NPL Finals SeriesFFA CEO David Gallop made the announcement at the launch of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2014 Final Series which was held at AAMI Park in Melbourne earlier today, the decision to award the PlayStation 4 NPL Champions a direct Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 spot providing added weight to the achievement. “The PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Finals Champions qualifying for the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 is a fantastic motivator for clubs on top of the already distinguished achievement of being crowned the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Champions,” Gallop said. “The Westfield FFA Cup has been a tremendous success capturing the imagination of everyone in the Australian football community and to now have it relevant to the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Finals Series provides yet another connection between the grassroots and professional tiers.” Launched for the first time last year with clubs from Capital Football, Football NSW, Football Queensland, Football Federation South Australia (FFSA) and Football Federation Tasmania competing in the inaugural knockout finals series format, in 2014 the PlayStation 4 NPL Finals Series will feature eight teams with the addition of clubs from Northern NSW Football, Football Federation Victoria (FFV) and Football West. Clubs qualify for the PlayStation 4 NPL Finals Series as the Premiers of each Member Federation’s respective NPL competition. The eight clubs to qualify for the PS4 NPL 2014 Finals Series are Cooma Tigers (Capital Football), Weston Workers (Northern NSW Football), Bonnyrigg White Eagles (Football NSW), Palm Beach Sharks (Football Queensland), MetroStars SC (FFSA), South Hobart (Football Federation Tasmania), South Melbourne (FFV) and Bayswater City (Football West). The PlayStation 4 NPL Finals Series will begin with the four Elimination Finals to be played on the 20 September 2014 and culminate with the Final which will be held on either the 4 th or 5 th of October. http://www.nationalpremierleagues.com.au/article/cup-spot-the-reward-in-ps4-npl-finals-series/1vav2trr8sppj1w2j3sbq9udz2 Great idea =d> The NPL sponsorship is also excellent news!

Excellent they've got a sponsor on board, and something reputable. PlayStation 4 is a bit of a mouthful, but it's an excellent brand name to be associated with. Also the winner of the NPL getting a direct entry into the Ro32 FFA Cup is superb as well. =d> =d> =d>

No details as yet, you'd hope it's the equivalent to one additional slot to the winning federation which means that either one federation loses out or they drop Wellington. NSW having the most it makes sense to me but we all know the NSW bias the FFA have ;) Aren't they planning on having a dedicated qualifying process next year as well rather than utilizing the local fed cups as well?

I think it's a shit idea. Does that mean the rest of the state winners get a spot as well?? No. Why is NSW any different?? It is a knock-out comp. The direct seeding of a NPL club only from NSW is just bizarre. NPL clubs should form part of the state based knockout criteria to enter the round of 32. If anything, there should be less clubs from NSW going by results. Edited by hotrod: 15/9/2014 03:57:55 PM

Seeded Teams
Fixed Draw
No Home advantage
Byes to the last 32
Good to see the FFA justifying their "magic of the Cup" Spin

my understanding is that the FFA Cup final will be like any other round of the cup
ie an NPL club will get a HOME state final if they are playing an A-League club and if 2 NPL clubs play or 2 A-League clubs play then the first drawn will get the Home State advantage
so we will find most likely find out after the 2nd semi final is played in late November (unless an NPL club has won the first semi a fortnight earlier).

Just the idea that the FFA Cup it is a cup comp with teams making it to the round of 32 have played knock-out games (except for the direct seeded A League teams). In this case this NSW entrant has not played knock-out games drawn against other teams from NSW, but as a direct consequence of winning a competition. That's why it's stupid. Might as well seed the AL champion into the round of 16, the Vic NPL state champion into the round of 8 and if WSW with the ACL direct into the final, for all the sense this decision makes. Also, the was the NSW teams performed in the round of 32 their 7 reps need to be scaled back and given to SA.
